“True Meaning and Excellence of Baait / Bayth”

The meaning of Bay’at or pledging spiritual allegiance is to be totally sold, which means to surrender yourself totally to a Spiritual Master (Murshid) to guide you to Allah.

Bay’at should be done on the hands of that person who possesses the following e attributes or else Bay’at will not be permissible. These are:

1. First and foremost, he must be a Sunni Muslim holding correct Islamic beliefs.
2. He should at least have that amount of knowledge which will enable him, without the assistance of anyone, to extract questions relating to Islamic Jurisprudence from Islamic books.
3. His Silsilaa (Chain of Spiritual Order) must be directly linked to the Holy Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) without a break in the sequence.
4. He must not be a Fasiq-e-Mo’lin (One who openly commits transgression and sin).

People, today, consider Bay’at to be some kind of fashion. They are ignorant of the reality of Bay’at. An example is given here to give you an idea of what Bay’at really is. Once a Murid (Disciple) of the great Shaykh Sayyiduna Yahya Maneri (Radi Allahu’ Ta’ala Anho) was drowning. Sayyiduna Khidr (Alaihis Salaam) appeared and said the Murid, “Give me your hand and I will save you”. The Murid replied, “This hand has already been given in the hands of Sayyiduna Yahya Maneri Radi ALLAHu Ta’ala Anho and since it belongs to him I cannot give it to anyone else”. Sayyiduna Khidr Alaihis Salam disappeared and, instantly, Sayyiduna Yahya Maneri Radi ALLAHu Ta’ala Anho appeared and saved him.

TAJDID-E-BAY’AT (RENEWAL OF BAY’AT)

Tajdid or renewal of Bay’at used to take place in the time of the Holy Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam. Once the Holy Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam personally took Bay’at thrice from Sayyiduna Salmah bin Akwah Radi ALLAHu Ta’ala Anho who was preparing to leave for Jihad. In the first instance, Rasoolullah SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam asked, “Did Salmah take Bay’at?” After a while the Holy Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam asked, “Salmah, are you not going to take Bay’at?” Sayyiduna Salmah Radi ALLAHu Ta’ala Anho said, “Ya Rasoolullah SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam! I had already taken Bay’at”. After all the Ashabs had taken Bay’at, the Prophet of Islam SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam repeated for the third time, “Salmah are you not going to take Bay’at?” Sayyiduna Salmah Radi ALLAHu Ta’ala Anho said, “Ya Rasoolullah SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam! I have already taken Bay’at twice”. The Prophet of Islam SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam said, “Repeat the Bay’at”. So, Sayyiduna Salmah Radi ALLAHu Ta’ala Anho, in a single sitting took Bay’at (Tajdid) thrice.

The secret and wisdom of the emphasis of Bay’at made on him was that he always made Jihad with the Kufar by foot. For him to now dash into the army of the enemy and confront them alone meant nothing to him.

Hadrat Sultan Shahabuddin Soharwardi Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anho, Baghdad – Iraq

BAY’AT AND ITS BENEFITS

There are two types of Bay’at:

(A) BAY’AT-E-BARAKAH

This is to initiate one’s self for the mere Barakah (Blessing) of joining a Silsila and this is the general idea or reason of today’s Bay’ats. This should, at least, be done with a good intention. If Bay’at is taken for mere worldly gain or any reason other than spiritual upliftment, then such Bay’at is Batil (null and void). For Bay’at-e-Barakah it is sufficient if the Shaykh you take Bay’at from is Shaykh-e-Ittisal, which means that his Silsila is linked to the King of the Prophets, Sayyiduna Muhammad SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam without a break in sequence and that the Shaykh possesses the four mentioned pre-requisites mentioned.

A’la Hazrat (Radi ALLAHu’ Ta’ala Anho) states: “The above Bay’at is not useless, but beneficial, in fact, very beneficial and profitable in Deen and Dunya. At least, his name would be recorded in the books of the Beloved of Allah (Mehbooban-e-Khuda). By just having a link with a spiritual order (Silsila) is by itself a great fortune and blessing of which three are mentioned below:

1. Emulation or imitation of the elite and Beloved ones of Allah (Khasan-e-Khuda) in the field of Tariqah or Sufism. Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said:

“One who imitates a nation is among them”.

Sayyiduna Shaykh-ush-Shuyuk Shahabud Din Suhrwardi (Radi ALLAHu’ Ta’ala Anho) states in his book, “Awariful Ma’ahrif”:

“Be it known that there are two types of Bay’at – Bay’at-e-Tabaruk (Barakah) and Bay’at-e-Iradah (Devotion). The actual intention of the Murids of a Masha’ikh is Bay’at-e-Iradah and Bay’at-e-Tabaruk has similarity with it. So for the real and true Murid there is Bay’at-e-Iradah and, for those who desire imitation there is Bay’at-e-Tabaruk because those who imitate a nation is amongst them”.

2. A divine link is connected with the Awliya and Sualihin. Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) says that His Rabb, the All Powerful and Almighty Allah says.

“There are those people who, by merely sitting with them, one will never become a Kafir”. (This refers to the Awliya)

3. The Beloved of Allah are Ayat Rahmah (Signs of Mercy). They take into their fold of mercy all those who remember and honour them and also focus their beams of mercy on them. Someone asked the King of the Awliya, Sayyiduna Ghousul Azam (Radi ALLAHu’ Ta’ala Anho):

“If any person takes your name in respect and honour though he may not be your Murid or not initiated by you personally, would he be counted as your Murid?”

The great Ghawth replied:

“Allah will accept those who have any form of relation or connection with me and notes his name in my spiritual office. If such a person adopts any desired path, Allah will bless him with guidance and repentance. He will be under my spiritual banner. Verily, my Rabb, the All Powerful and Almighty, has promised me that all my Murids, all those who love me and all those who follow the path I am on, will enter Jannah (Paradise)”.

Hadrat Sultan Bahauddin Naqshbandi Radi ALLAHu Ta’ala Anho, Bukhara – Uzbekistan

(B) BAY’AT-E-IRADAH

This means to totally abolish ones desires and intentions and surrender on’s self at the hands of a true Guide or Spiritual Master who has entered the Kingdom of the Heavens. You have totally empower him as your commander and ruler. You have to sincerely obey and execute all his orders and methods entrusted on you by him concerning the path to the spiritual domain. Never take a step without his consent even though some laws and orders may not suit you or make sense to you. Remember the example of Khidr (Alaihis Salam) when Sayyiduna Moosa (alaihis salam) met him and they both travelled together. The Murshid’s commands may cause great discomfort to you and at such moments the Murid must regard this as the interference of the Cursed Shaitan. Your every hardship and difficulty must be presented to him. In conclusion, the Murid must totally hand himself over to the Shaykh like a corpse in the hands of a person performing Ghusal. This is known as Bay’at-e-Salikin. Such Bay’at is regarded as being the aim and object of the grand Spiritual Masters. Such Bay’at leads one to Allah the Almighty. It was Bay’at-e-Salikin that was taken by the Ashabs at the hands of the Holy Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam).

Sayyiduna Obadah bin Samat (Radi ALLAHu’ Ta’ala Anho) states:

“We had taken Bay’at (at the hands of Rasoolullah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) on the following principles:

We will await his command and execute it in times of every ease and difficulty, every form of ecstasy or displeasure. And when the Master commands us we will never disobey or cross question him”.

The command of the Murshid is the command of Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) and his command is the Command of Allah, the All Powerful, Who nobody dares disobey. Allah states in the Holy Quran:

“And it is not appropriate for faithful men and women; when and His Messenger have judged a matter, to consider it a matter of choice for themselves; and one who does not accept the judgement of and His Messenger has indeed clearly entered darkness.” [Sura Ahzab: 36]

In “Awariful Ma’arif” Shaykh Shahab al-Din Suhrawardi Radi ALLAHu Ta’ala Anho sates:

“To be under the command of the Shaykh is to be under the Command of Allah and His Rasool SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam and is the revival of a Sunnah – Bay’at. This is only applicable on those persons who imprison themselves in the hands of the Shaykh, discard all desires and dissolve themselves in the Shaykh (Fana-fish-Shaykh)”.

Shaykh Suhrawardi Radi ALLAHu Ta’ala Anho also states:

“Abstain from criticizing the Shaykh for it is a deadly poison for the Murid. It is extremely rare for a Murid who criticise his Shaykh to find serenity and success. In any action of the Shaykh which does not seem correct to the Murid, he should remember the events of Sayyiduna Khidar. This is because the actions performed by Sayyiduna Khidar Alaihis Salam were apparently questionable (e.g. making a hole in the boat of the poor and killing an innocent child), but when the reasons for these actions were explained then it became obvious that the Shaykh should not be questioned”.

Sayyiduna Imam Abul-Qasim Qushayri Radi ALLAHu Ta’ala Anho states in his Kitab, “Risalah”, that Sayyiduna Abu Sahal Sahlooki Radi ALLAHu Ta’ala Anho states,

“Any person who says ‘why’ to any word of his Shaykh will never achieve success.”

May Allah Azza wa Jal grant us peace and success. Aameen!!

RECTIFICATION TO A MISCONCEPTION:

It has become a misconception today, that only Sayyids (descendants of the Beloved Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) are allowed to be Peers. They are the only ones who have the right of making mureeds. Sadly, amongst those who spread such propaganda, are mostly those who themselves are not Sayyid and only claim to be Sayyid, so that they may broaden their horizons. True Love and respect for the Sayyid is the recognition of the people of Imaan. Very deprived and unfortunate are those who have no love for the family of the Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam). But it must be noted, that it is not necessary to be Sayyid to be a Peer. The Holy Quran says,

“The exalted and respected in the Court of Allah are those amongst you that are pious and Allah Fearing.”

It must be noted, that, Hadrat Ghawth al-Azam Shaykh Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani (Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhu) is no doubt Hasani Husaini Sayyid, but his Peer, Hadrat Abu Saeed Makhzoomi, and his Shaykh Hadrat Abul Hassan Hakaari and His Shaykh Hadrat Abul Farah Tartoosi and various other Shuyookh of the Silsila, namely Shaykh Abdul Waahid Tameemi, Shaykh Abu Bakr Shibli, Hadrat Junaid Baghdadi, Hadrat Siiri Saqti and Hadrat Ma’roof Karkhi Radi Allahu Anhum al-Ajma’een are all not Sayyids. The Peer of Sultaan al-Hind Hadrat Khwaja Mueen al-Deen Chishti Alaihir Rahma wa ar-Ridwaan, Hadrat Khwaja Usman Harooni Alaihir Rahma wa ar-Ridwaan is also not a Sayyid.

AlaHadrat (Radi Allahu Anhu) states:

To say that it is a condition for a Peer to be Sayyid, is to claim that all the silsilas (Spiritual Chains) are baatil (broken). In the Silsila Aaliyah Qadiriyah, all the Shaykhs between Sayyiduna Ali Rida and Hadrat Ghawth al-Azam (Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhum al-Ajma’een) are all non Sayyids. And in the Silsila Aaliyah Chishtiya, immediately after Sayyiduna Ali (Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhu) is Hadrat Imam Hassan al-Basri (Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhu), who neither Sayyid, Quraishi nor an Arab, and in Silsila Aaliyah Naqshabandiya, the actual inception is from Hadrat Abu Bakr Siddique (Radi Allahu Anhu). [Fatawa Radawiyyah, Vol. 9, Page 114]

THE EXCELLENCE OF RECITING ONE’S SiJRAH

There are many virtues in reciting one’s Sajrah of which a few are mentioned below:

1. Memorising the chain of Awliya up to Rasoolullah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam.
2. The Zikr and Remembrance of Swalihin (Awliya) is the means of receiving Allah’s Rahmah (Mercy)
3. Performing the Esal-e-Sawab for all the Spiritual Masters which is a cause of receiving their spiritual guidance.
4. When the Murid remembers them in times of ease the Awliya of the Silsila will remember him in times of hardship and will also be of assistance to him.

..:: Permissibility of Celebrating Urs in Islam ::..

Meaning of the word “URS” from Sahih Hadith

The literal meaning of Urs is wedding, and it is for this reason that the bride and bridegroom are called ‘Uroos’.

Word Urs in Sahih Hadith

The date of demise of the Friends of Allahعزوجل and Buzurgs is called Urs because, whih the angels who question in the grave (Nakeerain) test the deceased and find him to be successful, they say, “Sleep like a bride who will not be awakened by anyone except for the person who is most beloved to her.”

Reference : [Mishkaat, Baabu Ithbaatil-Qabr]

Because these angels have called them ‘Uroos’ on that date, it therefore becomes the day of ‘Urs’,

Another reason is because, on this day, the angels will reveal the beauty and splendor of Rasoolullahصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم and ask him, “What did you say about this man?” He will reply, “He is the Uroos (adorned personality) of all creation. The entire creation has attained splendor through him.” Meeting the beloved is the day of ‘Urs’, and it is for this reason that the day is called Urs.

Celebration of Urs proven from Sahih hadith and Sunnah of Prophet

Let me quote the arabic hadiths again From tafseer ibn e khateer
,

Translation : The Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) used to go to the graves of the martyrs of Uhd once a year and also recite the verse of the Holy Qur’an on excellence of patience. The Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) used to pray for them. When the beloved Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) passed away himself, the Khalifs, Abu-Bakr (رضي الله عنه), Umar (رضي الله عنه), Usman (رضي الله عنه) used to do the same thing.

So from Above Sahih hadith we conclude that

1) On the day of the passing away of a Saint or on a specific date, his admirers, disciples, followers and relatives assemble together at the grave of the Saint to obtain spiritual benefit and celebrate the anniversary with rejoice.

2) It is also very worthy to recite the Quran Shareef and pass on the Sawaab (reward) to their soul and to recite Fateha and distribute sweetmeat among those present. To Recite Naats or do other forms of Zikr of Allah is also done on such a blessed day.

3) Or to give lectures and remember the work done by Awliyas [rahimullah] and how they acted on Quran and sunnah and spread Islam around the world.

View point of Classical scholars of Al Islam

Shah Abdul-Azeez Muhaddith Dehlwi

writes, “Secondly, many people gather and, after completing the Quran and Fatiha on the Sheerini, distribute it amongst those present. This part was not practiced in the Holy Prophet’sصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم time or during the era of the Khulafaa-e-Raashideen, but there is nothing wrong in someone doing so. Rather, the deceased attain benefit from the actions of the living.”

[Fataawa Azeezia, Pg. 45]

Shah Abdul-Azeez Muhaddith Dehlwi

Answering Maulwi Abdul-Hakeem Siyaalkoti, Shah Abdul-Azeez Muhaddith Dehlwi رضی اللہ تعالٰی عنہ writes, “This taunt is because people are unaware of conditions.
No one accepts anything else to be Fardh except for what the Shariah has classified as so, Yes, attaining barkat from the graves of the pious, reciting the Holy Quraa and Isaal-e-Thawaab and distributing sweetmeats and food to assist them (m thawaab) is good according to the Consensus of the Ulama. The day of Urs appointed to remind people of his demise. Otherwise, on whatever day these acts are done is good,” –

[Zubdatun-Nasaaih fi Masaailiz-Zabaaih]

Hadrat Shaikh Abdul Qudoos Gangoohi

writes to Maulana Jalaaluddin, “The Urs of Peers, according to their method with Samaa wl cleanliness, should be practiced,”

[ Maktoob. Letter no. 182]

Haaji Imdaadulilb Muhaajir Makkir

the Peer of Maulwi Rashid Ahmed and Ashraf Ali Thanwi [deoband founders ], notably stresses the permissibility of Urs and, while explaining his practices, رضی اللہ تعالٰی عنہ writes, “The practice of this Feqe (i.e. myself) in this matter is that I make Isaal-e- Thawaab to the soul of my Peer every year. Firstly, Quran is recited, and if there is enough time, Moulood Sharif is read.
Thereafter the reward of this is conveyed.” –

Deobandi founder Rashid Aluned Gangohi

also accepts Urs to originally be permissible. He writes, “

It is known from Arabs that they used to commemorate the Urs of Hadrat Sayed Ahmed Badawi رضی اللہ تعالٰی عنہ on a large scale with much pomp, The Ulama of Medina used to especially observe the Urs of Sayyiduna Ameer Hamza رضی اللہ تعالٰی عنہ.
Whose grave (Mazaar) was at the mountain of Uhud. In short, Muslims throughout the globe, including the Ulama, pious and especially the people of Madina, used to strictly observe Urs, and that which is good according to Muslims is good in the sight of A1lah عزوجل “

[Fataawa Rashidia, Vol.1, Pg. 92]

PLACING OF GHILAF [cloth] ON THE GRAVE

Cloth on the grave is placed for respect. There is nothing wrong in it just as Cloth on Kaaba sharif is place to increase its respect.

1) Ghilaf or Chadar (cloth) is placed on the grave of a Wali or pious Muslim for the benefit of the visitors so that they may understand and realise the status of the deceased Muslim.

2) It is allowed to put on a Ghilaf on the graves of Awliya and Ulema when it is recognised that the majority respect the person in the grave. People are also aware of the holy person’s status and gain auspiciousness from the holy person who is resting in the grave.

3) In the famous Hanafi fiqh book, “Raddul Mukhtaar”, it is stated: “It is permissible to place a cloth on the Qabar of a Wali or pious Muslim so that visitors be more respectful when visiting the grave. We should also realise that the basis of action is upon the intention”.

THE BURNING OF INCENSE STICKS, LOBAAN, ETC.

To light incense sticks (agarbatti) and lobaan in the Mazaar of the Awliya (or the gatherings of Khatams) and for the benefit of the visitors is permissible.

One should bear this in mind that it is done not for the deceased but rather for the comfort of the visitors, as they will feel better in a sweet-scented environment.

The action of doing good deeds for others is also a means of Sadaqa and the deceased also receive the Sawaab of this Sadaqa performed by those who are living. In the end this is an act done to create freshness in the air only.

PLACING OF FLOWERS OF THE GRAVE

The placing of flowers on the grave of an ordinary or a pious Muslim is permissible.

Objection: Putting flowers on the graves
Sahih Al Bukhari – Volume 1, Book 4, Number 215
Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas: Once the Prophet (Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam), while passing through one of the grave-yards of MADINA or MAKKAH heard the voices of two persons who were being tortured in their graves. The Prophet ( said, “These two persons are being tortured not for a major sin (to avoid).” The Prophet then added, “Yes! (they are being tortured for a major sin). Indeed, one of them never saved himself from being soiled with his urine while the other used to go about with calumnies (to make enmity between friends).” The Prophet then asked for a green leaf of a date-palm tree, broke it into two pieces and put one on each grave. On being asked why he had done so, he replied, “I hope that their torture might be lessened, till these get dried.”

so putting flowers or petals on a grave is a established Sunnah.

Allama Tahtawi (radi Allahu anhu) states: “Some among our preceeding Ulama have given a legal verdict that the action of placing flowers or fresh branches is Sunnat and is proven from Hadith”.

Wet grass should not be removed from the grave because the wet grass prays the Tasbih of Allah Taala and gives solace to the buried. If it is removed then you have committed an unjust deed for the deceased.

“Ibne Abdul Wahab Najdi Exposed Commits Shirk & Shirk factory”

Page 15, divine text by Imam Mustafa ibn Ahmad ash-Shatti ( Rh)

Translator: Abu Ja`far al-Hanbali

1. Imam Mustafa ibn Ahmed ash – Shatti writes about Ibn Abdul Wahab al Najdi al Tamimi

Some of the major doctrinal positions propounded at variance with Muslim Orthodoxy were as follows

(5) The vast majority of Muslims down through the ages, since the first three generations have slipped into idolatry.

Foot note: Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahab said the following: ‘ The best spoken word that could be said was the cause of a Bedouin coming to us one day saying he had heard something about Islam. He said,’ I bear witness that we were kuffar ( he meant all the desert Arabs) and I bear witness that the guard who came to tell us about things is of the people of Islam’. So the man bore witness that he was an unbeliever.’ Sharah Sittah Mawali’min as Sirah,pp 25-26. This indeed shows that this creed was taught to the people. Further could be said by his son and first successor, Abdullah Ala sheikh who stated: ‘Indeed major shirk has become the norm for most of these people due to ignorance spreading and knowledge disappearing.”

2. Ibn Abidin al Hanafi (Rh ) writes :

His words and who consider the Companions of our Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) to be disbelievers are not a condition for someone to be a kharijite, but rather are a mere clarification of what those who revolted against ‘Ali (Allah Most High be well pleased with him) in fact did. Otherwise, it is enough to be convinced of the unbelief of those they fight against, as happened in our own times with the followers of [Muhammad ibn] ‘Abd al-Wahhab, who came out of the Najd in revolt, and took over the sanctuaries of Mecca and Medina. They followed the Hanbali madhhab, but believed that they were the Muslims, and that those who believed differently than they did were polytheists (mushrikin). On this basis, they held it lawful to kill Sunni Muslims (Ahl al-Sunna) and their religious scholars, until Allah Most High dispelled their forces, and the armies of the Muslims attacked their strongholds and subdued them in 1233 A.H. [1818] (Hashiya radd al-muhtar, 4.262).

3. The Shafi‘i mufti of Mecca, Ahmad ibn Zayni Dahlan (d. 1304/1886), a historian as well as a scholar, recorded the story of the Wahhabis’ takeover of the holy places in a number of books, one of which, his two-volume history al-Futuhat al-Islamiyya [The Islamic conquests], gives the following description of what became perhaps their most famous, and certainly their most lethal ijtihad; namely, that the sunna of tawassul or ‘supplicating Allah through an intermediary’ was shirk:
Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Wahhab claimed that his aim in this school of thought he innovated was to make sincere the belief in Allah’s unity (tawhid), and to abjure worshiping false gods (shirk), and that Muslims had been worshipping false gods for six hundred years, and that he had revived their religion for them. He interpreted Qur’anic verses revealed about worshippers of false gods (mushrikin) as referring to those who worship Allah alone…

4. `Allama al-Shaykh Sulayman, elder brother of Muhammad ibn `Abd al-Wahhab: al-Sawa’iq al-Ilahiyya fi al-radd ‘ala al-Wahhabiyya [“Divine Lightnings in Answering the Wahhabis] also writes that ibn Andul Wahab was misguided and considered the muslim population to be involved in “ shirk”.

5.

Tafsir al-Jalalayn is one of the most significant tafsirs for the study of the Qur’an. Composed by the two “Jalals” — Jalal al-Din al-Mahalli 1459 CE(d. 864 AH) and his pupil Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti 1505 CE (d. 911 AH).

Famous Maliki Scholar Ahmad Sawi 1825 CE ( 1241 AH) wrote a commentary ( hashiya) on the above work. This commentary is called Hashiya al-Sawi ‘ ala al-Jalalayn.

Quran 35: 6 ( verse 6 of sura Faatir) states

Truly, the Devil is an enemy to you, so take him as an enemy: he only calls his party to become of the inhabitants of the blaze

In explaining this verse, the great scholar Ahmad sawi writes in his commentary

“It is said this verse was revealed about the Kharijites [foretelling their appearance], who altered the interpretation of the Qur’an and sunna, on the strength of which they declared it lawful to kill and take the property of Muslims—as may now be seen in their modern counterparts; namely, a sect in the Hijaz called “Wahhabis,” who “think they are on something, truly they are the liars. Satan has gained mastery over them and made them forget Allah’s remembrance. Those are Satan’s party, truly Satan’s party, they are the losers“ (Qur’an 58:18–19 We ask Allah Most Generous to extirpate them completely”

Ibn Abdul Wahab Najdi Al Tamimi and his book “Ahkam tamanni al mawt”.He becomes mushrik as per his false faith defined in Kitab ul Touheed

Ibn Abdul Wahan Najdi al Tamimi has mentioned a very interesting narration in his book Ahkam tamanni al mawt. During the time of Umar (rd) there was a very pious young man. Once this young man was about to commit a grave sin, but Allah saved him. This young man realised his mistake, felt felt very bad and died. When Umar (rd) came to know this , he visited the grave of this young man and asked “ do you have two gardens “ ( 55:46) and this young man replied from the grave that he has been given the blessings of two gardens”….

Wahhabi Mawlids ??

It is widely believed that Wahhabi / Salafi are against the idea of holding celebrations of Mawlid. But that’s not true. They celebrate not one, but many Mawlids. Here are some of the Wahhabi/Salafi Mawlids we have witnessed.
hajj2013
1- Mawlid of Shaykh Muhammad ibn `Abd al-Wahhab, Shaykh-an-Najdi (Also, the title which was given to Shaytan), Shaykh al-Islam of Salafis/Wahhabis, and Imam of the Two Cities (Riyad and Dar`iyya):

Every year at the anniversary date of Muhammad ibn `Abd al-Wahhab death, a great feast is held at the Ibn Sa`ud University in Riyad (in Najd) at which
time they praise the unparalleled magnificence of their beloved religious leader, listing his qualities and reciting new poetry about his greatness. All over the world, their embassies also fulfill this important communal obligation (fard kifaya). This is NOT `ibada, of course.

2- Mawlid of the State, known as National Day:

This Mawlid, similar to Independence Day, Flag Day, and Army Day, is celebrated every year in the country with international gala festivities, fanfare, parades, army reviews, podiums and thrones, and also, of course, new poems of praise and Madih recitations for the State founders and current rulers, all at colossal cost, but whatever means leads to fulfilling an obligation (fard), is itself an obligation. Of course this is NOT `ibada.

3- Mawlid of the Nations  Century:

This was a gigantic and truly new Mawlid, the like of which was never seen before. Last year we all witnessed the great celebrations whose main slogan
was 100 years KSA to commemorate one century of freedom from the innovated Khilafa and the establishment of the Sunni Kingdom. On this occasion
thousands of shiny and colorful lights, new constructions, inventive and tasteful decorations, posters, banners, placards, and other graphic art productions were displayed in public places and broadcast over the media with orchestral music, poems, and commentary of self-praise and glorification that filled the heart with warmth, love of dunya, and national pride. All Mawlids should be like this! (Needless to say, this is NOT `ibada.)

4- Mawlid of the Mufti:

At the recent passing of the Grand Mufti of the Wahhabiyya Sect, Bin Baz, it was decided by the Mawlid Celebration Board to issue a special commemorative
glossy publication praising his greatness, listing his achievements and merits, and deploring his demise with big tears of sadness. In fact, the magazine cover showed a delightful, artistic painting of a series of big tears stringed together like dhikr-beads, and inside each tear there was a small Ka`ba. Al-Hamdu lillah, the Grand mufti is gone, the tears dried up, but we still have the Ka`ba!

5- Mawlid of the Ministers:

From time to time, public sessions of high praise are held for certain ministers according to worldly (dunya) merit. In a recent incident one of our brothers unduly obsessed with the hereafter (Akhira) witnessed a TV program in Madina during Hajj 1999, in which one of the Ministers was lavishly praised (madih) by a 7-year old schoolboy dressed in a formal army suit, reciting poetry he had innovated for him. The boy was called to the podium (`arsh) and asked by that minister what he would like to receive for praising him so much. The boy said on the spot: “Half a million Ryals.” The Minister happily granted his wish. (Jazak Allahu Khayran for such a generous, noble gesture on National TV during Hajj, so that everyone young and old should learn to praise and magnify government officials instead of reciting Qasidat al-Burda or other such things!) The brother who witnessed this event on TV, as he was pleased with the Best of Creation“ the Prophet (SAWS)  went to the Prophets  Masjid and, standing at Bab Gibril in front of the blessed Green Dome (with other brothers who were also obsessed with Akhira), started excessively obeying the command of the Qurâan to invoke blessings and abundant greetings on the Holy Prophet (SAWS) and recite Qasida in his praise. Immediately, the guards of the Custodian of the Two Holy  Masjids went on Red Alert (special guards from the elite Tala`al Badru Emergency Alert Unit) as they noticed that the brothers were committing an act of love and respect for the Beloved of Allah (SAWS), something known in their legal police code as SHIRKUFRBID`A (which only they can pronounce correctly). So the elite, frowning paratroopers yelled at the brothers to stop immediately this violation of the National Mawlid Law, manhandled them, and threatened them with arrest and jail unless they stopped their crime. Moral: If only those brothers had used their intellects to recite Mawlid for a State Minister instead of Rahmatan lil-Alamin (SAWS), they would have been several million Ryals richer today! (And this would NOT be `ibada!)

6- Mawlid of Monuments and Inscriptions:

Unlike the preceding Mawlids which are seasonal or according to special circumstances, this Mawlid is a permanent Mawlid in Madina, steps away from the Prophets  Masjid in the ritzy Dar al-Tayba square. It consists in a 15-foot monument in the shape of a globe topped by a dome similar to the Prophets dome, flanked by a flag, in the middle of a waterfall. Below, an inscription says: In appreciation to the King for services rendered to Islam. This Mawlid of Monuments and Inscriptions fulfills two important functions. First, it is most suitable for photography as a memento of His Majesty the King in the City of the Holy Prophet (SAWS) as, unfortunately, pictures of the real Dome are prohibited but happily, pictures of this dunya monument are welcome (as it is NOT `ibada).

Second, just like the inscription acknowledging His Majesty the King at the bottom of the door of the Ka`ba in  Makkah (for every pilgrim to remember and commemorate) this monument and inscription fills the vacuum created “ in the last century “ by the destruction of the graves of of the great past Muslim figures who contributed over 1,000 years to the greatness of Islam. Figures such as `Uthman ibn `Affan who used to ride on a donkey and sleep on the  Masjid floor when he was caliph; `Uthman ibn Mazun whose grave the Holy Prophet (SAWS) personally built up; Malik ibn Anas who walked barefoot in Madina out of respect for Rasulullah (SAWS); our mothers the Prophets wives; his daughters, uncles, cousins, and thousands of Sahaba all left without one sign “ i.e. monument or inscription “ reminding of their existence or services rendered to Islam. But why remember them? Wouldn’t that be`IBADA!?

Conclusion:

It is hoped that this brief description will help dispel the false and unjust notion that no Mawlid of any kind is celebrated in the Wahhabi/Salafi world today. Yes, they celebrate Mawlid, rejoice and remember like everybody else “ but in their own special way, WITHOUT `ibada. As Allah (Subhana Wa Taala) said: Every party rejoices in what they have. And the Holy Prophet (SAWS) said: When someone loves something, they make abundant remembrance of it. May Allah reward everyone of them for NOT making `ibada with innovated Mawlids, all according to their intention and according to what they deserve!

Bear this one thing in mind: These shayateen have the cheeks to say that Milad-un-Nabi (Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim) is Shirk & Bidâah, yet in the LA
Times, they openly join in the celebration of Christmas.

So let’s get this straight. According to the Najdis:

a. Milad of Nabi Isa ibn Maryam, Christmas, which is actually a pagan Greco-Roman celebration, is considered to be a sacred event.
b. Milad of the Holy Last Messenger, Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim, is bidâah, shirk, kufr.
Lanatullah˜alaa-l-kaadhibeen wa alaa-l-munafiqeen!

..:: Sayings of the Great Scholars about Celebrating Mawlid ::..

Having read the words of those who had lived with the Holy Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam and had closely watched his every action, we shall now turn to some great scholars of Islam, whose writings are considered most authentic in Islamic affairs. Pay heed to these to dispel any doubts that you may have regarding the subject. All these great scholars firmly believed that celebrating Meeladun Nabi the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam is authentic and lawful.

..:: Sayings of the Great Scholars about Celebrating Mawlid? ::..

1. After relating Abu Lahab relief on setting Thuwaibha free, Hazrat Maulana Shah Abdul Haq Dehlvi in his famous book Madarijun Nabuwwat says:

This event provides a clear proof to those who celebrate Meelaad Shareef by rejoicing and alms giving on the night of the birth of the holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam), People of Makkah gather on 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal to is it the house in which the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) only because he was his nephew, he has been receiving, in spite of this being an idolater, the benefits of thus rejoicing in his grave every Monday, then how much more blessing will fall to the lot of him who acknowledges the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) as the beloved of ALLAH and His true Prophet, and celebrates Meelaad Shareef repeatedly.

As the poet says:

Dostaan Ra Kujaa Kunee Mahroom
Tu Keh Ba Dushmanaan Nazar Daree

How would you (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) leave out friends?
You, who feel great compassion, even for your enemies.

Ref:

2. Madarijun Nabbuwwat, Vol2, Page 14/19

2. Due to the rejoicing he made at the birth of the holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam), Imaam Qastalaani says:

How would anyone of the Ummah the holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) fare, who is a Muslim and is steadfast in his belief in the unity of Allah and rejoices at his (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) birth and who spends whatever he can afford for the love of him (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam)? I swear by my life, that Allah, out of His Grace, will not reward such a person but by entering him into the Gardens of Bliss. (Mawaahib-dunniyah by Imam Qastalani, Vol1, Page 27, Published in Egypt)

3. Imaam Qastalaani says:

May ALLAH bless a person who celebrates ˜Eid on the nights of the blessed month of the holy birth of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam), so that it hurts them the most who have a serious disease in their hearts and who suffer from an incurable ailment on account of the blessed birth. (Mawaahib-dunniyah by Imam Qastalani, Vol1, Page 27, Published in Egypt)

Oppositions would have now found the required word Eid in such an authentic book. If they do not agree with the writings of Imaam Qastalaani, then they should condemn those who have called this book the best and of great virtue.

4. Imaam Qastalaani further says: How blessed is the month in which the Prophet of ALLAH (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) was born! How very superior and sacred! How very respected the nights (of the month) as though they are pearls shining bright throughout the ages! How full of light and pure the face of the one born! How blessed the Being (ALLAH) who made the birth of the holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) a springtime for the hearts and his (Sallal Laahu˜Alaihi Wa Sallam) face a manifestation of splendor!

Yaqoolu Lanaa-Lisaanul Haali Minhu.
The tongue of the Prophet of ALLAH (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) Speaks the truth. And the thing is that the voice of truth appears to be sweet to the listener

Wa Qaulul Haqqi Yazabu Lis Samee
And, O questioner! If you want to know about my attributes and my affairs, I would say this:

Fawajhi Waz-Zamaanu Wa sharu Wadee
My face and my age and the month of my birth is springtime in the month of Rabee-ul-Awwal.

Rabeeun Fi Rabee in Fi Rabee
He (Sallal Laahu˜Alaihi Wa Sallam) has likened his blessed face to springtime in respect of blessed beauty and splendor and that his face blossomed in springtime in the month of Rabee-ul-Awwal.

5. Imam Sharfuddin Busairi in chapter 4 of Qasida Burda Shareef speck of the birth of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam. The blessed day on which Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam, was born is a praise worthy event. The birth of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam, illuminated the entire universe. Some miracles and incidents, which took place at the time of birth, are mentioned in this chapter. These were signs of the greatness of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam.

Abaana Mawliduhu Un Teebi UnSuriahi
Ya Teeba Mubtadaee Minhu Wa Mukhtatami

His birth distinctly showed his pure origin
The excellence! Of his beginning and his end.

Wal Jinnu Tah’tifu Wal Anwaru SaTiatun
And the jinn were shouting (at the appearance of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) and the NUR was glistening
Wal Haqqu YaZharu Mim Manauw Wamin Kalimi
And the truth (nubuwaat) appeared with these anwaar, and with their voices.

Ref: Qasida Burda Shareef, Chapter 4  Concerning the birth of Rasulullah SallallahuAlayhi Wasallam, Couplet 1/7

6. Ibne Jauzi has devoted a whole book to Meelaad, which is called Maulad-ul-Uroos. Allamah Ibne Jauzi says:

And whosoever rejoices at the birth of our beloved Mustafa (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wa Sallam), this rejoicing by him will turn the Fire away, and whosoever spends even a dirham on the occasion of the Meelaad of the Prophet of ALLAH (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) he (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) will intercede on his behalf and his intercession will be accepted. (Meelad-ul-Uroos, Page 9)

7. And, Ibne Jauzi has also written:

Ya Maulidal Mukhtaari kam Laka Min Sana.
Wa Madaaihin Talu Wa Zikrin Yuhmadu.
Ya Laita Toolad Dahri Indi Zikruhu.
Ya Laita Toolad Dahri Indi Mawlidu.

O Meelaad of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam)! You are mightily praised, and the praise is such that it is the loftiest and the remembrance is such that it is the most excellent; how I wish the remembrance of the holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) shall be with me for a long time! How I wish his (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) Meelaad shall be with me for a long time! (Meeladul Uroos, Page 28)

8. In this regard, Hazrat Shah Waliyullah Dehlvi says:

“Following the ancient practice, I recited the Holy Quraan and distributed the things (food etc.) Of the Niyaaz (Faatihah) of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) and made a public display of his blessed heir (Mooae Muboarak). While reciting (the Holy Quraan), Malaika (Angels nearest to ALLAH) came to attend the Mahfil-e-Meelaad and the blessed soul of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) showed much kindness to me (Shah Waliyul Laah) and my friends. I, thus, saw that Malaika (Angels nearest to ALLAH) and, with them, the whole group of Musalmaans, were ascending to high heaven (on account of the blessings of the Prophet) and this blessed condition was reflected (in the Mahfil-e-Meelaad). (Al Qaul al-Jalee, Page 74)

9. Hazrat Shah Abdul Haq Muhaddis Dehlvi (may Allah have mercy on him), in his book “Ma Sabata Minas Sunnah” referring to the night of the blessed birth, of the holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu âAlaihi Wa Sallam) says:

We would rather say that the night when the holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) was born is definitely superior to Lailat-ul-Qadr. This is so because the night of the birth is the night when he was manifested and Lailat -ul Qadr was bestowed on him (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam), and a thing which became blessed on account of him upon whom it was bestowed is more blessed than that which became blessed because of it being conferred upon him (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) and because Lailat-ul-Qadr is blessed because on this night Angels descend, and the night of the birth of the holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) is blessed because of himself (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam), and because Lailat-ul-Qadr is a blessing only for the Ummah of Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) and the night of his blessed birth is a blessing for all beings. Thus the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) is he who ALLAH Taala sent down as a mercy to all the worlds and it is through him that ALLAH completed His blessings on all His creations in all heavens and in all earth.” (Ma Sabata Min as-Sunnah, Page 82, Published by Qaiyyumi Press, Kanpur, August 1923)

10. Those calling themselves followers of Shah Waliyyullah’s family should also note the following statement of Hazrat Shah Waliyyullah Muhaddis Dehlvi. In his book, Ad Durrus Sameen, he says:

My dear father, Hazrat Shah Abdur Raheem Dehlvi (may ALLAH have mercy on him) informed me that he used to get food cooked on Meelaad days as a mark of rejoicing for him (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam). One year it so happened that he could not afford anything except roasted grams, so he distributed those among the people, with the result that he had a vision of the holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) in his dream and saw that those roasted grams were lying before him (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam) and he (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) looked pleased”. (Ad Durrus Sameen, Page 3)

11. Haji Imdadullah Sahib Muhajir Makki (may ALLAH have mercy on him) says:

“The practice of this faqeer has been that I participate in Meelaad Shareef functions. In view of the fact that doing so brings blessings, I myself hold Meelaad every year, and find great solace and joy in Qiyaam (reciting salutations in a standing position)”

“A cluster of stars concentrated over the roof of his house at the time of the birth of the holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wa Sallam); Angels hoisted flags on holy Baitul Laah and in the east and in the west; the whole atmosphere was filled with the voices of Angels and houries reciting salutations to him in the standing position and congratulating each other and rejoicing with abandon; animals also congratulated each other at the birth of the holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam), the Kaâbatul Laah bowed in a manner of saluting, and the falsehood vanished and the light of truth spread light in all directions.

15. Shikeh Muhammad Bin Alawi al-Maliki said:

Holy Prophet Peace Be With Him due to importance of his Birthday use to avow it a great incident and use to pray to ALLAH Almighty as it was a great blessing for him also  Sarkar used to Salutations upon himself we too must celebrate Meeladun Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasllam, Cook food and do other adulations and praise to Almighty ALLAH by other ways of delight. (Asbaatul Mawlid Wal Qayam, Pg 24)

17. Hazrat Shiekh Abdul Haq Muhaddith Dehlvi used to pray:

O Lord! I do not have such deeds that I can present in your mighty court. Wrongdoer influences all of my deeds. But there is an act of this Humbler just because of your mercy to present you and that is my salutations on your Beloved Prophet Peace Be Upon Him that I use to offer with honesty and integrity in standing position in the blessed gatherings of Mawlid Shareef. (Akhbarul Akhyaar, Pg 644)

He asked, Ya Rasool Allah Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam, Are you pleased about Muslims; who celebrate your birthday? He replied Those who love me; I love them too (Tazkiratul Waâizeen, pg 200, Published from Maktaba Habibia Quetta)

20. Ibn Kathir says regarding Shah Malik al-Muzzafar regarding whom Salafis spread deception by forging words of Ibn Kathir i.e. he was actually a Fasiq, cruel and Bidati ruler but in reality Ibn Kathir said:

He was a generous, mighty master, and glorious ruler, whose works were very good. He built Jamiya al Muzaffari near Qasiyun During Rabi ul Awwal he used to celebrate Mawlid Shareef with great celebration, Moreover, he was benevolent, brave, wise, a scholar, and just person. Sheikh Abul Khattab wrote a book on Mawlid an-Nabwi for him and named it At-Tanwir fi Mawlid al Bashir al Nazeer, for which he gave him 1000 dinars. His rule stayed till the Rule of Salahiya and he captured Aka and he remained a man worthy of respect.

Al-Sabt mentions that a person attending the gathering of Mawlid held by Muzzafar said:
He used to fill the table with 5000 well cooked goats, 10,000 chickens, 100-thousand bowls (of milk) and 30,000 trays of sweets. (Tarikh Ibn Kathir, Al Bidayah Wan Nihaya Volume 13, Page No. 174)

21. Imam Shahab-ud-din Abul Abbas al-Qastalani (Rahimuhullah) said:

When it is said that Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihi wa Sallam) was born at night time then the question arises which of the two nights is greater i.e. Night of Decree or Night of Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihi wa Sallam) birth?

The Night of Prophet Sallallaho Alaihi wa Sallam birth is superior due to 3 reasons

First: He (Sallallaho Alaihi wa Sallam) arrived (in this world) on the Night of Mawlid whereas Night of decree was granted to him (afterwards), therefore the arrival of Prophet Sallallaho Alaihi wa Sallam is greater than what has been granted to him, hence night of Mawlid is higher in virtue.

Second: If Night of decree is vitreous night because Angels descend in it, then Night of Mawlid has the virtue of Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihi wa Sallam) being sent to world. The Prophet Sallallaho Alaihi wa Sallam is superior to Angels, therefore night of Mawlid becomes superior.

Third: Due to night of decree, the Ummah of Muhammad (Sallallaho Alaihi wa Sallam) was given imminence, whereas due to Night of Mawlid all creations were given Fazilah, as Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihi wa Sallam) is sent as Mercy to worlds/creations (Quran 21:107), hence the blessing was made general for all creations.

May Allah have mercy on the one who turns the nights of the month of the Prophets birth into celebration in order to decrease the suffering of those whose hearts are filled with disease and sickness. [Al-Muwahib- Volume 1,
Page No 148]

23. Imam Jalal ud din Suyuti (Rahimuhullah) writes:

The reality of Mawlid is that people gather to recite Quran to the extent that is easy, also to discuss narrations which are regarding Prophet (Salallaho Alaihi wa Sallam), the signs which took place on his birth. Then dinning is arranged for them and they return without adding anything more to this Bidat al Hasanah. The one who arranges it gets Thawab due to honoring Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihi wa Sallam) and showing gratitude on his birth [Al Hawi
lil Fatawi, Volume 1, Page No. 292, Published by Maktaba al Asriya, Beirut,
Lebanon]

24. Imam Jalal ud din Suyuti (Rahimuhullah) answers why celebrating on birth supercedes the sorrow of Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihi wa Sallam) passing away on same date.

The birth of Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihi wa Sallam) is a great blessing for us and his death is very saddening for us too, however Shariah has ordered us to rejoice and thank Allah on blessings, whereas on calamity it has taught us to have patience while hiding it, this is why Shariah has told us to do Aqiqa on birth which is a form of being happy and thankful to Allah for giving us birth, but on death there is no concept of sacrificing an animal and even lamenting is forbidden. Hence in light of rulings prescribed by shariah one should rejoice in Rabi ul Awwal on birth of our beloved Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihi wa Sallam) [Al Hawi lil Fatawi, Volume 1, Page No. 298, Published by Maktaba al Asriya,
Beirut, Lebanon]

25. Imam Shams-ud-din Dimishqi (Rahimuhullah) writes:

It is proven that Abu Lahab punishment of fire is reduced on every Monday because he rejoiced on brith of Prophet (Salallaho Alaihi wa Sallam) and freed the slave-woman Thawba Radi ALLAHu Taala Anha When Abu Lahab, whose eternal abode is hell fire and regarding whom whole surah of Tabad Yada (i.e. Surah Lahab) was revealed, he gets Takhfif in his Adhaab every Monday then Imagine the situation of a (momin) who has spent his life in rejoicing over birth of Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihi wa Sallam) and died as a Mawhid

27. The great Mufasir and Sufi, Hadrat Ismail Hiqqi (Rahimuhullah) said:

To celebrate Mawlid is amongst the great tributes to Prophet (Salallaho Alaihi wa Sallam), but the condition is that it should be clear of evil things. Imam Suyuti has said: It is Mustahab for us to be happy on birth of Prophet (Salallaho Alaihi wa Sallam) [Tafsir Ruh ul Bayan, Volume 9, Page No. 52]

28. Shaykh al-Islam Imam Ibn Hajar al-Haytatami al-Makki Radi ALLAHu Taala Anho states in an-Neamatul Kubra, Page 6, Istanbul  Turkey)

2. Ibne Jauzi says:

Fala Zaala Ahlul Haramain ash-Shareefain Wal Misr, Wal Yemen, Wash Shaam Wa Saairi Bilaadil Arabi Minal Mashriqi Wal Maghribi Yahtafiloona Bimajlisi Maulidin Nabiyyi Alaihis Salaatu Was Salaam Wa Yafrahoona Biqudoomi Hilaali Rabil Awwali Biharkati Maulidin Nabiyyi (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam).

3. Gatherings of Miladun Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam was switched to Prose in 3rd-4th Hijri then 700 years back from today, A pious and virtuous person named Umer bin Mullah Muhammad Mousli Alaihir RaHma established it on regular basis. Following him the great commander Sultan Salahuddin Ayyub is dearly loved Sultan Arbal Malik Abu Saeed Muzaffaruddin celebrated Miladun Nabi officially. Ibn-e-Khalqaan Arabali Shafai was eyewitness of that festival. According to Tareekh-e-Maratuz Zaman billion of rupees were used to spend on those fastvities. In the Starting of 7th Century of Hijri Calender; Great Scholar named Abul Khattab Umer Bin Hasan wahâhia Qalbi Undlasi Balansi wrote a book on the topic Meeladun Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam named At-Tanveer Fee Mawlidis Sirajal Muneer. In 1207, He went to Sultan Arbals castle and presented his book on Mawlid to him, for which he was awarded thousand Gold Coins from Sultan. This was the status and respect of Mawlid Shareef in hearts of earlier leaders of Islam. Not only Sultan Arbal, King of Egypt celebrated the Mawlid Shareef; Allama Ibne Juzri Alaihir RaHma is one the eyewitnesses. For the celebration of this festival 1000 Mithqal of Gold was spent on it. Sultan Abu Hamu Musa Talamsani and earlier rulers of Aqsa and Undalas used to Celebrate Miladun Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Abdullah Tonsi Sum Talamsani has written the details of these festivals in his book Rahal Arwah.

The birth of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) was celebrated by the people of Makkah who received blessings on account of it.

7. On the eve of Miladun Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam celebrations are observed in Makkah and dwellers of Makkah name this day as Youm al Eid Mawlid ar Rasoolullah Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam. 9. Ibn Jawzi also wrote a complete book on Mawlid where he said:

In Haramayn (i.e. Makkah Mukarrama and Madina Munawwarah), in Egypt, Yemen rather all people of Arab world have been celebrating Mawlid for long. Upon sight of the moon in Rabi ul Awwal their happiness touches the limits and hence they make specific gatherings for Dhikr of Mawlid due to which they earn immense Ajr and Success. (Biyan al Milaad an Nabwi, Page No. 58)

10. Shah Waliullah Muhadith Dhelvi mentions one of his all time wonderful experiences as:

I took part in a gathering of Mawlid inside Makkah where people were sending Darood and Slaam upon Prophet (Peace be upon him) and mentioning the incidents which took place during the time of your birth (before and after) and those which were witnessed before you were appointed as a Nabi (such as Noor eliminating from Bibi Amina Radi ALLAHu Taala Anha, she seeing Noor, woman proposing to Syeduna Abdullah Radi ALLAHu Taala Anho on sight of Noor on his forhead etc) suddeny I saw Noor to have enveloped one group of people, I don’t claim that I saw this with my bodily eyes, nor do I claim that it was spiritual and Allah knows the best regarding these two, however upon concentration on these Anwaar a reality opened upon me that these Anwaar are of those Angels who take part in such gatherings, I also saw Mercy to be decending along with Anwaar of Angels. (Fayudh al Haramayn, Pages 80-81)

11. Sheikh ul Islam Imam Ibn Hajr al Haytami (Rahimuhullah) writes:

The gatherings of Mawlid and Adhkaar which take place during our time, they are mostly confined to good deeds, for example in them Sadaqat are given, Dhikr is done, Darud and Salam is sent upon the Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihi wa Sallam) and he is praised. (Fatawa al Hadithiyyah, Page No. 202)

All good is from Allah Taala whereas mistakes are from this humble speck. May Allah Taala Bless all readers, bringing you all closer to Him and His RasulAllah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam. May He accept our humble efforts and grant us the capacity to be good and do good. Ameen!

Permissibility of Celebrating Mawlid or Milaad from Quran & Hadith

eidm

All Praise is due to Allah subHanuhu wa Taâala, Countless Durood and Salutations upon the best of creation Sayyaduna wa Habeebuna Qurrat Aeenuna Muhammadur Rasoolullah Sallallaho Alaihi wa Sallam.

In present era we are suffering sects and scholars who imposes verdicts of Shirk and Bidâat on those who celebrate Mawlid an-Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam with great enthusiasm and integrity and due to which the simple and straight peoples who are less in knowledge of Qurâan and Hadith gets nervous whether they are following the TRUTH or not.

Here is proof from QURAAN al-Kareem and Sayings of Prophet Peace Be Upon Him which show beyond a shadow of a doubt that Celebrating Milad-un-Nabi Sallallaho Alaihi wa Sallam is absolutely Lawful.

..:: The Holy Qurâan Says ::..

Issa son of Maryam submitted, O Allah our Lord, ’sends down to us a tray of food from the heaven so that it may be an occasion of rejoicing for us, for the first and the last of us and a sign from You, and provide for us and you are the best of Providers. (Surah Al-Maâidah, Verse 114)

The day when food is sent from skies is day of rejoicing (EID); then the day when soul of universe Peace be with him was born must be the rejoice for the day of rejoicing.

Look what ALLAH have said:

وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ
And publicize well the favors of your Lord. (Surah Al-Duha, Verse 11)

ALLAH himself commemorating Milad in Holy Qurâan as we do in our gatherings, Allah Says in the Holy Qurâan:

هُوَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُ بِالْهُدَى وَدِينِ الْحَقِّ لِيُظْهِرَهُ عَلَى الدِّينِ كُلِّهِ وَكَفَى بِاللَّهِ شَهِيدًا
It is He Who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth that he may make it prevail over all other religions And Sufficient is Allah as witness. (Surah Al-Fatha, Verse 28)

And remember when Issa son of Maryam, said, ˜O children of Israel, I am Allah’s Messenger to you, confirming the previous Book Tourat before me and conveying the glad news of the Messenger who will come after me, his name is Ahmad! ˜ But when Ahmed came to them with bright signs, they said, ˜this is an open magic. (Surah As-Saf, Verse 6)

Assuredly there has come to you a messenger from among yourselves, heavy upon him is your suffering; ardently desirous of your welfare, and to Muslims is most Kind and Merciful. (Surah Tauba, Verse 128)

Undoubtedly, Allah did a great favor to the Muslims that in them from among themselves sent a Messenger who recites unto them His signs and purifies them and teaches them the Book and wisdom, and necessarily before that they were certainly in apparent error. (Surah Al-Imran, Section 17, Verse 164)

O people! There has come an admonition to you from your Lord, and healing of hearts, and guidance and a mercy for the believers. Say you, only Allahâs grace and only His mercy, on it therefore let them rejoice. That is better than all their wealth. (Surah Al-Yunus, Verse 57,58)

And this is what we do, we celebrate; we rejoice; we do spend our money to show gratitude to ALLAH Almighty on his greatest mercy and Blessing i.e. celebrations of Milad-un-Nabi because Qurâan Says:

وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِّلْعَالَمِينَ
And We sent not you, but a mercy for all worlds. (Surah Al-Anbiya, Verse 107)

Let us have the opinions of Prophet (Peace be with him) who himself celebrated his Birthday. See Muslim Sharif:

O Prophet of Allah (sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam)! My parents be sacrificed upon you, what did the Almighty Allah first create? The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) replied: Allah first created my Noor (Light) of His Noor. This Noor traveled about according to the Will of Allah. At that time, there was no Heaven, Hell, Lawh (Divine Tablet), Pen, Earth, Skies, Sun, Moon, Jinn or Human Beings. When He decided to create, He divided that Noor into four parts. From one part He created the Pen, from the second, the Lawh and from the third, he made the Arsh (Throne). He divided the fourth part into a further four parts. From one, He created those Angels who carry the Arsh, from the second, the Kursi (Divine Chair) and from the third, He created the Angels. He again divided the remaining parts into a further four parts. From one, He created the skies. The second was used in creating the planets. From the third, Heaven and Earth were created. Once again, He divided the fourth part into a further four parts. From one part He created the power with which the believers see. From the second, He created in the hearts of the Believers the Noor of Marifat. From the third, He created Noor in the tongues of the Believers, so that they can read the Kalima of Tauheed.

Abu Lahab was an uncle to the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam). The event, which Imaam Qastalaani has referred to, is this. When a maid of Abu Lahab (Abdul Uzza) named Thuwaibah informed him of a son being born to his brother Abdul Laah (may ALLAH be pleased with him), he (Abu Lahab) was so delighted at herring this that he pointed his finger to her in a manner which signified her emancipation for carrying the good news to him But when the holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) declared his Prophet hood, he (Abu Lahab) did not accept him as a Prophet but became a most severe enemy to him and remained so all his life. In condemnation of him a whole Surah of the Holy Quraan descended.

After his death, people of Abu Lahabs household saw him in a dream, and asked him how he had fared. To this, Abu Lahab said that after departing from them he did not meet with any good but was being given water every Monday from the finger with which he had indicated the emancipation of Thuwaibah, and this water lessened his torment.

Allama Muhammad Bin Alawai Malki have stated in his work, Houl al-IHtifal Bi Zikri Mawlid an-Nabawi Ash-Sharif that Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam after announcing his prophet hood he did his Aqeeqa, not only this he also plunked on his mimber shareef and recited his Shajra, memorized the birth of Hadrat Adam and Status of Hadrat Ibrahim, Hadrat Esa, Hadrat Moosa Alaihimus Salam. He ordered few of his companions to recite his greatness; Many of Companions offered poems in the greatness of Syyeduna Rasoolullah, He was delighted hearing this and prayed for his companions.(Houl al Hatifal Bi Zikri Mawlid an-Nabawi Ash-Sharif, Published in Lahore 1987)

Seeking Blessings through the Holy Relics of Prophet(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) – Reference from Quran & Hadith

sacred-relics

In Today’s era, the degraders of Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) deny the Shifa/Tabarruk (Cure/Blessing) through Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) in different forms. Not only is the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) source of blessing himself, but also the relics associated with him (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) are also source of Shaf’at for Ummah.  The Sahaba(R.A) during his (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) lifetime, and also after his Dhahiri passing away did things like washing his cloak to seek cure, considering his hair as most dear to everything that is in the world, touching his pulpit and seeking barakah, wiping his Wudhu water over their faces and chests, even fighting over his left over wudhu water,  etc…

In Light of the Quran

It was usual practice of the Companions to preserve  relics of Prophet(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and to draw benefits and blessings out of them. This proves that they offered them to Allah as instruments of mediation when they needed His help and assistance. Allah Himself has made reference to the relics of the Prophets in the Holy Qur’ān.

Translation: And (further) their Prophet said to them: “A Sign of his authority is that there shall come to you the Ark of the covenant, with (an assurance) therein of security from your Lord, and the relics left by the family of Moses and the family of Aaron, carried by angels. In this is a symbol for you if ye indeed have faith.” [Quran 2:248]

Tafsir al-Jalalayn: And their prophet said to them, after they had demanded a sign of his kingship: ‘The sign of his kingship is that there will come to you the Ark, a chest containing the images of the prophets, which God sent down to Adam, and which was handed down to them [sc. the Israelites], until the Amalekites seized it from them in battle. They used to commence fighting invoking it before their enemy and marching behind it, as well as experience peacefulness in its presence as God says: therein is a Spirit of Peace, reassurance for your hearts, from your Lord, and a remnant of what the folk of Moses and the folk of Aaron left behind, which were Moses’s pair of sandals and his staff, Aaron’s turban, a measure (qafīz) of the manna that used to come down on them, and the pieces of the broken tablets, the angels bearing it (tahmiluhu l-malā’ikatu, the circumstantial qualifier referring to the subject of the verb ya’tiyakum, ‘there will come to’). Surely in that shall be a sign for you, of his kingship, if you are believers’. The angels bore it between the earth and the sky while they gazed at it, until finally they placed it before Saul. They then acknowledged his kingship and hastened to enlist in the [holy] struggle, and he chose seventy thousand of their young men.

Quran states:

Translation: “Go with this my shirt, and cast it over the face of my father: he will come to see (clearly). Then come ye (here) to me together with all your family.” When the caravan left (Egypt), their father said: “I do indeed scent the presence of Joseph: Nay, think me not a dotard.” They said: “By Allah. truly thou art in thine old wandering mind.” Then when the bearer of the good news came, He cast (the shirt) over his face, and he forthwith regained clear sight. He said: “Did I not say to you, ‘I know from Allah that which ye know not?'”[Quran 12:93-96]

Khalid bin Walid fighting for the Blessed hair of Prophet(Peace be Upon him)

At this he replied: I did not try so to find just the cap, actually It contained the (blessed) hair of Prophet (Peace be upon him) and I feared that It might get into the hands of Mushrikeen and I might lose the Barakah of it [Qadhi Iyaadh in Ash-Shifa, Volume No. 1, Page No. 619]

‘Abd-ur-Rahmān bin Abū ‘Amrah has attributed it to his grandmother who heard it from Kabshah Ansāriyyah:

Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) went over to see her and there was a small water bag of leather hanging there. He drank water from it while standing. Then she cut off the mouth of water bag on account of its blessing because the Prophet’s mouth had touched it.

Prophet(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) confirming the act to be right

Hadith #8

Anas b. Malik reported that Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) came to the house of Umm Sulaim and slept in her bed while she was away from her house. On the other day too he slept in her bed. She came and it was said to her: It is Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) who is having siesta in your house, lying in your bed. She came and found him sweating and his sweat falling on the leather cloth spread on her bed. She opened her scent-bag and began to fill the bottles with it. Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) was startled and woke up and said: Umm Sulaim, what are you doing? She said: Allah’s Messenger, we seek blessings for our children through it. Thereupon he said: You have done something right.

Hadith #9

Umm Sulaim reported that Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) visited her house and (took rest) and she spread a piece of cloth for him and he had had a siesta on it. And he sweated profusely and she collected his sweat and put it in a perfume and in bottles. Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) said: Umm Sulaim, what is this?

It is narrated by Thumāmah through Anas: That Umm Sulaym used to spread a leather mattress for the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) where he enjoyed his midday nap. Anas relates that when the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) woke up, I collected his perspiration and his hair, put these into a bottle and blended them with perfume. Thumāmah relates that when Anas was on the brink of dying he willed that the scent be applied to his coffin. He relates that the scent was applied to his coffin.

Narrated Abu Juhaifa:

Allah’s Apostle came to us at noon and water for ablution was brought to him. After he had performed ablution, the remaining water was taken by the people and they started smearing their bodies with it (as a blessed thing). The Prophet offered two Rakat of the Zuhr prayer and then two Rakat of the ‘Asr prayer while an ‘Anza (spear-headed stick) was there (as a Sutra) in front of him. Abu Musa said: The Prophet asked for a tumbler containing water and washed both his hands and face in it and then threw a mouthful of water in the tumbler and said to both of us (Abu Musa and Bilal), “Drink from the tumbler and pour some of its water on your faces and chests.”

Hadith #13

Narrated As-Sa’ib bin Yazid:

My aunt took me to the Prophet and said, “O Allah’s Apostle! This son of my sister has got a disease in his legs.” So he passed his hands on my head and prayed for Allah’s blessings for me; then he performed ablution and I drank from the remaining water. I stood behind him and saw the seal of Prophethood between his shoulders, and it was like the “Zir-al-Hijla” (means the button of a small tent, but some said ‘egg of a partridge.’ etc.)

Shroud out of the clothes worn by the Prophet(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)

Hadith #19

Narrated Abu Hazim:

Sahl bin Sa’d said that a woman brought a Burda (sheet) to the Prophet. Sahl asked the people, “Do you know what is a Burda?” The people replied, “It is a ‘Shamla’, a sheet with a fringe.” That woman said, “O Allah’s Apostle! I have brought it so that you may wear it.” So the Prophet took it because he was in need of it and wore it. A man among his companions, seeing him wearing it, said, “O Allah’s Apostle! Please give it to me to wear.” The Prophet said, “Yes.” (and gave him that sheet). When the Prophet left, the man was blamed by his companions who said, “It was not nice on your part to ask the Prophet for it while you know that he took it because he was in need of it, and you also know that he (the Prophet) never turns down anybody’s request that he might be asked for.” That man said, “I just wanted to have its blessings as the Prophet had put it on, so l hoped that I might be shrouded in it.”

Blessings through the Prophet(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Spittle

Hadith #22

Part of the hadith

Urwa then started looking at the Companions of the Prophet. By Allah, whenever Allah’s Apostle spat, the spittle would fall in the hand of one of them (i.e. the Prophet’s companions) who would rub it on his face and skin; if he ordered them they would carry his orders immediately; if he performed ablution, they would struggle to take the remaining water; and when they spoke to him, they would lower their voices and would not look at his face constantly out of respect. Urwa returned to his people and said, “O people! By Allah, I have been to the kings and to Caesar, Khosrau and An-Najashi, yet I have never seen any of them respected by his courtiers as much as Muhammad is respected by his companions. By Allah, if he spat, the spittle would fall in the hand of one of them (i.e. the Prophet’s companions) who would rub it on his face and skin; if he ordered them, they would carry out his order immediately; if he performed ablution, they would struggle to take the remaining water; and when they spoke, they would lower their voices and would not look at his face constantly out of respect.”

Hadith #23

Asmā’ bint Abū Bakr says:

I (while in Makkah) was pregnant with ‘Abdullāh bin Zubayr (that is, he was in my belly). The period of pregnancy was near completion that I set out for Medina. I got down at Qubā’ and gave birth to my son (‘Abdullāh bin Zubayr) at Qubā’. Then I took him over to the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and placed him in his lap. He sent for a date and chewed it. Then he put his saliva into the child’s mouth, and the first thing that entered his stomach was the Prophet’s saliva. Then he applied the date to his palate, prayed for him and offered his congratulations

Anas narrates: When ‘Abdullāh, the son of Abū Talhah al-Ansārī, was born, I brought him to the Holy Prophet At that time, he was wearing a shawl and rubbing oil on to a camel. He said: have you got any dates? I replied, yes. Then I gave him a few dates, he munched them with his teeth and then he put it into the child’s mouth by opening it. The child started sucking it. He said: the Muslims of Medina love the dates and then he named the child as ‘Abdullāh.

Hadith #25

‘Ā’ishah relates that the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) used to mention in the context of patients:

Ibn Hajar ‘Asqalānī’s comments on the tradition are as follows:

“The Prophet’s words “from the saliva of some of us” prove that he used to apply his saliva while using a protective invocation (ruqyah) over something. Nawawī says: ‘the tradition means that the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) put his saliva on his forefinger and rubbed it on to the soil, then he froze it and applied it to the patient or the wound and while applying it, he recited the words of the tradition.’ Qurtubī says: ‘this tradition proves that it is valid to treat any disease by using a protective invocation over it, and it also makes it clear that it was a common and popular practice among them.’ He is also of the opinion that the Prophet’s placing of his forefinger on the soil and sprinkling it with earth justifies its relevance while blowing protective invocation through it… And, surely, it describes the mode of receiving blessings through the attributes of the Lord and the relics of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم). Then blowing breath laden with protective invocation into something and a divinely inspired sense of purpose and determination have amazing implications which simply stun human reason.

Blessing through the Holy Prophet’s(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) handwash

Hadith #26

Abu Musa reported: I was in the company of Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) as he had been sitting in Ji’rana (a place) between Mecca and Medina and Bilal was also there, that there came to Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) a desert Arab, and he said: Muhammad, fulfill your promise that you made with me. Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said to him: Accept glad tidings. Thereupon the desert Arab said: You shower glad tidings upon me very much; then Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) turned towards Abu Musa and Bilal seemingly in a state of annoyance and said: Verily he has rejected glad tidings but you two should accept them. We said: Allah’s Messenger, we have readily accepted them. Then Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) called for a cup of water and washed his hands in that and face too and put the saliva in it and then said: Drink out of it and pour it over your faces and over your chest and gladden yourselves. They took hold of the cup and did as Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) had commanded them to do. Thereupon Umm Salama called from behind the veil: Spare some water in your vessel for your mother also, and they also gave some water which had been spared for her.

It was in his hand, then it remained in Abū Bakr’s hand, then it remained in ‘Umar’s hand, then it remained in ‘Uthmān’s hand, then from his hand it fell into a well at Arīs. The following words were engraved on it: Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah

Blessing through the Holy Prophet’s(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Blessed nail

Hadith #37

Muhammad bin ‘Abdullāh bin Zayd has reported it from his father:

The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) had his hair cut in a piece of cloth and gave it to him, out of which he distributed some among the people, then he had his nails clipped and gave them to him.

This tradition has a sound chain of transmission and its narrators are men of credibility.

Blessing through the Prophet(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Pulpit

Hadith #42

Sitting on the pulpit, the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) taught religion to his Companions. The lovers of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) were extremely fond of this pulpit and preserved it like his other relics to draw blessings from it. Qādī ‘Iyād relates:
Ibn ‘Umar was often seen touching with his hand the part of the pulpit where the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) used to sit and then rubbing his hand all over his body.

Blessing through the Holy Prophet(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Staff

Hadith #43

‘Abdullāh bin Anīs has reported it from his father:
When I called on the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) , he said to me as he saw me: “The successful face (the successful man).” He says: I said to him: O Messenger of Allah, I have killed him (Khālid bin Sufyān). He said: You have spoken out the truth. Then the Messenger (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) stood up beside me and went to his house and blessed me with his staff and said: O ‘Abdullāh bin Anīs! Keep it with you. When I came out carrying the staff, the people asked me: what is this (staff)? He replied: this has been given to me by the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and he has commanded me to keep it. The people said: won’t you return it to the Messenger Ask the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) about it. ‘Abdullāh bin Anīs says that I called on the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and asked him: O Messenger of Allah! why have you given this staff to me? He replied: on the Day of Judgement this will serve as a mark of recognition between us when few people will cooperate with others. ‘Abdullāh bin Anīs tied the staff to his sword and always kept it with himself until he passed away. He had willed about the staff that it should be placed in his coffin, so we buried them together.

Qādī ‘Iyād relates in as-Shifā (2:621):

Jahjāhā al-Ghifārī snatched the Prophet’s staff from ‘Uthmān’s hand, placed it on his knee and made a sacrilegious effort to break it. But people stalled him in his tracks by protesting, but (he was punished by the unknown for this act), a boil broke out on his knee which turned into a running sore. As a result, his leg was amputated and he died the same year.
