“True Meaning and Excellence of Baait / Bayth”

The meaning of Bay’at or pledging spiritual allegiance is to be totally sold, which means to surrender yourself totally to a Spiritual Master (Murshid) to guide you to Allah.

Bay’at should be done on the hands of that person who possesses the following e attributes or else Bay’at will not be permissible. These are:

1. First and foremost, he must be a Sunni Muslim holding correct Islamic beliefs.
2. He should at least have that amount of knowledge which will enable him, without the assistance of anyone, to extract questions relating to Islamic Jurisprudence from Islamic books.
3. His Silsilaa (Chain of Spiritual Order) must be directly linked to the Holy Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) without a break in the sequence.
4. He must not be a Fasiq-e-Mo’lin (One who openly commits transgression and sin).

People, today, consider Bay’at to be some kind of fashion. They are ignorant of the reality of Bay’at. An example is given here to give you an idea of what Bay’at really is. Once a Murid (Disciple) of the great Shaykh Sayyiduna Yahya Maneri (Radi Allahu’ Ta’ala Anho) was drowning. Sayyiduna Khidr (Alaihis Salaam) appeared and said the Murid, “Give me your hand and I will save you”. The Murid replied, “This hand has already been given in the hands of Sayyiduna Yahya Maneri Radi ALLAHu Ta’ala Anho and since it belongs to him I cannot give it to anyone else”. Sayyiduna Khidr Alaihis Salam disappeared and, instantly, Sayyiduna Yahya Maneri Radi ALLAHu Ta’ala Anho appeared and saved him.

TAJDID-E-BAY’AT (RENEWAL OF BAY’AT)

Tajdid or renewal of Bay’at used to take place in the time of the Holy Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam. Once the Holy Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam personally took Bay’at thrice from Sayyiduna Salmah bin Akwah Radi ALLAHu Ta’ala Anho who was preparing to leave for Jihad. In the first instance, Rasoolullah SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam asked, “Did Salmah take Bay’at?” After a while the Holy Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam asked, “Salmah, are you not going to take Bay’at?” Sayyiduna Salmah Radi ALLAHu Ta’ala Anho said, “Ya Rasoolullah SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam! I had already taken Bay’at”. After all the Ashabs had taken Bay’at, the Prophet of Islam SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam repeated for the third time, “Salmah are you not going to take Bay’at?” Sayyiduna Salmah Radi ALLAHu Ta’ala Anho said, “Ya Rasoolullah SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam! I have already taken Bay’at twice”. The Prophet of Islam SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam said, “Repeat the Bay’at”. So, Sayyiduna Salmah Radi ALLAHu Ta’ala Anho, in a single sitting took Bay’at (Tajdid) thrice.

The secret and wisdom of the emphasis of Bay’at made on him was that he always made Jihad with the Kufar by foot. For him to now dash into the army of the enemy and confront them alone meant nothing to him.

Hadrat Sultan Shahabuddin Soharwardi Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anho, Baghdad – Iraq

BAY’AT AND ITS BENEFITS

There are two types of Bay’at:

(A) BAY’AT-E-BARAKAH

This is to initiate one’s self for the mere Barakah (Blessing) of joining a Silsila and this is the general idea or reason of today’s Bay’ats. This should, at least, be done with a good intention. If Bay’at is taken for mere worldly gain or any reason other than spiritual upliftment, then such Bay’at is Batil (null and void). For Bay’at-e-Barakah it is sufficient if the Shaykh you take Bay’at from is Shaykh-e-Ittisal, which means that his Silsila is linked to the King of the Prophets, Sayyiduna Muhammad SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam without a break in sequence and that the Shaykh possesses the four mentioned pre-requisites mentioned.

A’la Hazrat (Radi ALLAHu’ Ta’ala Anho) states: “The above Bay’at is not useless, but beneficial, in fact, very beneficial and profitable in Deen and Dunya. At least, his name would be recorded in the books of the Beloved of Allah (Mehbooban-e-Khuda). By just having a link with a spiritual order (Silsila) is by itself a great fortune and blessing of which three are mentioned below:

1. Emulation or imitation of the elite and Beloved ones of Allah (Khasan-e-Khuda) in the field of Tariqah or Sufism. Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said:

“One who imitates a nation is among them”.

Sayyiduna Shaykh-ush-Shuyuk Shahabud Din Suhrwardi (Radi ALLAHu’ Ta’ala Anho) states in his book, “Awariful Ma’ahrif”:

“Be it known that there are two types of Bay’at – Bay’at-e-Tabaruk (Barakah) and Bay’at-e-Iradah (Devotion). The actual intention of the Murids of a Masha’ikh is Bay’at-e-Iradah and Bay’at-e-Tabaruk has similarity with it. So for the real and true Murid there is Bay’at-e-Iradah and, for those who desire imitation there is Bay’at-e-Tabaruk because those who imitate a nation is amongst them”.

2. A divine link is connected with the Awliya and Sualihin. Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) says that His Rabb, the All Powerful and Almighty Allah says.

“There are those people who, by merely sitting with them, one will never become a Kafir”. (This refers to the Awliya)

3. The Beloved of Allah are Ayat Rahmah (Signs of Mercy). They take into their fold of mercy all those who remember and honour them and also focus their beams of mercy on them. Someone asked the King of the Awliya, Sayyiduna Ghousul Azam (Radi ALLAHu’ Ta’ala Anho):

“If any person takes your name in respect and honour though he may not be your Murid or not initiated by you personally, would he be counted as your Murid?”

The great Ghawth replied:

“Allah will accept those who have any form of relation or connection with me and notes his name in my spiritual office. If such a person adopts any desired path, Allah will bless him with guidance and repentance. He will be under my spiritual banner. Verily, my Rabb, the All Powerful and Almighty, has promised me that all my Murids, all those who love me and all those who follow the path I am on, will enter Jannah (Paradise)”.

Hadrat Sultan Bahauddin Naqshbandi Radi ALLAHu Ta’ala Anho, Bukhara – Uzbekistan

(B) BAY’AT-E-IRADAH

This means to totally abolish ones desires and intentions and surrender on’s self at the hands of a true Guide or Spiritual Master who has entered the Kingdom of the Heavens. You have totally empower him as your commander and ruler. You have to sincerely obey and execute all his orders and methods entrusted on you by him concerning the path to the spiritual domain. Never take a step without his consent even though some laws and orders may not suit you or make sense to you. Remember the example of Khidr (Alaihis Salam) when Sayyiduna Moosa (alaihis salam) met him and they both travelled together. The Murshid’s commands may cause great discomfort to you and at such moments the Murid must regard this as the interference of the Cursed Shaitan. Your every hardship and difficulty must be presented to him. In conclusion, the Murid must totally hand himself over to the Shaykh like a corpse in the hands of a person performing Ghusal. This is known as Bay’at-e-Salikin. Such Bay’at is regarded as being the aim and object of the grand Spiritual Masters. Such Bay’at leads one to Allah the Almighty. It was Bay’at-e-Salikin that was taken by the Ashabs at the hands of the Holy Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam).

Sayyiduna Obadah bin Samat (Radi ALLAHu’ Ta’ala Anho) states:

“We had taken Bay’at (at the hands of Rasoolullah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) on the following principles:

We will await his command and execute it in times of every ease and difficulty, every form of ecstasy or displeasure. And when the Master commands us we will never disobey or cross question him”.

The command of the Murshid is the command of Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) and his command is the Command of Allah, the All Powerful, Who nobody dares disobey. Allah states in the Holy Quran:

“And it is not appropriate for faithful men and women; when and His Messenger have judged a matter, to consider it a matter of choice for themselves; and one who does not accept the judgement of and His Messenger has indeed clearly entered darkness.” [Sura Ahzab: 36]

In “Awariful Ma’arif” Shaykh Shahab al-Din Suhrawardi Radi ALLAHu Ta’ala Anho sates:

“To be under the command of the Shaykh is to be under the Command of Allah and His Rasool SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam and is the revival of a Sunnah – Bay’at. This is only applicable on those persons who imprison themselves in the hands of the Shaykh, discard all desires and dissolve themselves in the Shaykh (Fana-fish-Shaykh)”.

Shaykh Suhrawardi Radi ALLAHu Ta’ala Anho also states:

“Abstain from criticizing the Shaykh for it is a deadly poison for the Murid. It is extremely rare for a Murid who criticise his Shaykh to find serenity and success. In any action of the Shaykh which does not seem correct to the Murid, he should remember the events of Sayyiduna Khidar. This is because the actions performed by Sayyiduna Khidar Alaihis Salam were apparently questionable (e.g. making a hole in the boat of the poor and killing an innocent child), but when the reasons for these actions were explained then it became obvious that the Shaykh should not be questioned”.

Sayyiduna Imam Abul-Qasim Qushayri Radi ALLAHu Ta’ala Anho states in his Kitab, “Risalah”, that Sayyiduna Abu Sahal Sahlooki Radi ALLAHu Ta’ala Anho states,

“Any person who says ‘why’ to any word of his Shaykh will never achieve success.”

May Allah Azza wa Jal grant us peace and success. Aameen!!

RECTIFICATION TO A MISCONCEPTION:

It has become a misconception today, that only Sayyids (descendants of the Beloved Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) are allowed to be Peers. They are the only ones who have the right of making mureeds. Sadly, amongst those who spread such propaganda, are mostly those who themselves are not Sayyid and only claim to be Sayyid, so that they may broaden their horizons. True Love and respect for the Sayyid is the recognition of the people of Imaan. Very deprived and unfortunate are those who have no love for the family of the Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam). But it must be noted, that it is not necessary to be Sayyid to be a Peer. The Holy Quran says,

“The exalted and respected in the Court of Allah are those amongst you that are pious and Allah Fearing.”

It must be noted, that, Hadrat Ghawth al-Azam Shaykh Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani (Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhu) is no doubt Hasani Husaini Sayyid, but his Peer, Hadrat Abu Saeed Makhzoomi, and his Shaykh Hadrat Abul Hassan Hakaari and His Shaykh Hadrat Abul Farah Tartoosi and various other Shuyookh of the Silsila, namely Shaykh Abdul Waahid Tameemi, Shaykh Abu Bakr Shibli, Hadrat Junaid Baghdadi, Hadrat Siiri Saqti and Hadrat Ma’roof Karkhi Radi Allahu Anhum al-Ajma’een are all not Sayyids. The Peer of Sultaan al-Hind Hadrat Khwaja Mueen al-Deen Chishti Alaihir Rahma wa ar-Ridwaan, Hadrat Khwaja Usman Harooni Alaihir Rahma wa ar-Ridwaan is also not a Sayyid.

AlaHadrat (Radi Allahu Anhu) states:

To say that it is a condition for a Peer to be Sayyid, is to claim that all the silsilas (Spiritual Chains) are baatil (broken). In the Silsila Aaliyah Qadiriyah, all the Shaykhs between Sayyiduna Ali Rida and Hadrat Ghawth al-Azam (Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhum al-Ajma’een) are all non Sayyids. And in the Silsila Aaliyah Chishtiya, immediately after Sayyiduna Ali (Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhu) is Hadrat Imam Hassan al-Basri (Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhu), who neither Sayyid, Quraishi nor an Arab, and in Silsila Aaliyah Naqshabandiya, the actual inception is from Hadrat Abu Bakr Siddique (Radi Allahu Anhu). THE EXCELLENCE OF RECITING ONE’S SiJRAH

There are many virtues in reciting one’s Sajrah of which a few are mentioned below:

1. Memorising the chain of Awliya up to Rasoolullah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam.
2. The Zikr and Remembrance of Swalihin (Awliya) is the means of receiving Allah’s Rahmah (Mercy)
3. Performing the Esal-e-Sawab for all the Spiritual Masters which is a cause of receiving their spiritual guidance.
4. When the Murid remembers them in times of ease the Awliya of the Silsila will remember him in times of hardship and will also be of assistance to him.

We are living in a world of uncertainty and misconceptions. Man is beginning to question the very roots of his beliefs for Allah Almighty and the Holy Prophet Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim, to create doubt in the minds of the simple and unsuspecting Muslims.”

“Here is proof from QURAN, Ahadith-e-Nabawi (Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam), Sayings of Sahab-e-Kiram and from the writings of great and authentic scholars of Islam and writings of those who declare this as SHIRK, BID’AT etc. which show beyond a shadow of a doubt that Visiting Graves and Shrines of Anbia (Alaihimus Salam) and Aulia ALLAH (Rehmatullah Alaihi Ajamaien) is Lawful.”

“Islamic Standards Of Marriage”

Islam has declared piety and good character as the standard for matrimony.  There is a Hadith in both Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim:

Translation of Hadith: Women are married for 4 things: First, their wealth.  Second, their family.  Third, their beauty.  Fourth, for their piety.  So, you select the pious one, otherwise you will be deprived of blessings.

The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) declared piety as the standard, as neither wealth is permanent nor beauty.  Beauty is a fleeting shadow and wealth can be lost in a moment.  In reality, piety and character is the only permanent wealth, which benefits and provides relief and succor in this world and the hereafter.  If the parents are religious, then they will raise their children also in the same manner and their entire lives become blessed.

The Hadith does not mean that parentage, wealth and beauty should not be considered and that matches with these should be rejected, but that the final deciding standard should be piety and character.  It is fine if along with piety, the girl is of a high, wealthy family and beautiful as well.

The primary reason for the deterioration in married life at present is that we have ignored piety and taken wealth and mere physical beauty as the standards, due to which many girls are facing many problems.  We should try to solve these problems so that life becomes blissful and the problems of the Ummah are solved.

There is a Hadith in Sunan Ibn Majah: The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: For a Momin, the best thing after Taqwa (piety) from which a man draws benefit is a pious wife.  When he orders her, she obeys him, when he sees her, she makes him happy, when he gives her an oath (with an order), she fulfills it and when he goes away (for some work, journey, etc.), she desires good for him through her person and his wealth.

There are strict warnings about those who take only physical beauty, parentage, and wealth as the standard for marriage.  There is a Hadith in Mojam Tabarani that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: Whoever marries a women for her status, Allah Ta’ala increases his humiliation and debasement and whoever marries a lady for her wealth, Allah Ta’ala increases his poverty and whoever marries a lady for her parentage (ignoring her piety and character), then Allah Ta’ala increases his shame and disgrace and whoever marries a lady only to guard his eyes from doing wrong and protect his chastity and treat her relatives, made from this association, nicely, then Allah Ta’ala grants Barakaah (blessings) in the woman for the man and grants Barakaah in the man for the lady.

There is a Hadith in Sahih Muslim that, this world is a place to draw benefit from and the best thing from which benefit can be drawn is a pious woman.

The way the standard for selecting a bride is piety and good character, in the same way, the standard for selecting a bridegroom is also piety and good character.  There is a Hadith in Jame’ Tirmidhi:

When such a person sends a proposal to you whose piety and character is well liked by you, then accept it otherwise there will be corruption on the land and there will be great disturbances.

Because of these commandments, the Sahabah would not feel any hesitation or embarrassment in marrying off their girls even to pious Abyssinian slaves and Allah Ta’ala has granted Barakaah in their lineage as well.

The result of not making piety and character the standard for marriage is that both boys and girls are simply waiting for marriage.  For girls, dowry is an issue and for boys, the expenses of Valima remain an issue, the gateways of immorality have been opened wide and indecency is rampant, which invites new diseases.  There is a Hadith in Sunan Ibn Majah:

Translation of Hadith: The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: When indecency and immorality happens openly in a nation, then plague and other new diseases will come, about which the earlier had not even heard of.

“Aashura”

dua-e-aashura

Aashura means
My beloved Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam beloved devotees. The root word for Aashura is Ashr meaning ten. There are a few reasons why this day is called Aashura.

2. Ten days are given superiority and this is the tenth day.

3. On this day, Allah Ta’ala blessed ten Prophets with His chosen bounties.

The Fast of Aashura

The Prophet Muhammad (salalahaolalaihiwassalam) Migrated To Madinah sharif Found That The Jews Of Madinah Used To Fast On The 10th Day Of Muharram. They Said That it Was The Day On Which The Prophet Musa (Moses), Alaihe Salam, And His Followers Crossed The Red Sea Miraculously And The Pharaoh Was Drowned in its Waters. On Hearing This From The Jews, The Prophet, Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam, Said,

“ We Are More Closely Rotated To Musa, Alaihi Salam, Than You, ”

…And Directed The Muslims To Fast On The Day Of ‘Ashura’.

( Hadith-Abu Dawood)

” Observe The Fast Of Aashura And Oppose The Jews.Fast A Day Before it Or A Day After.”

(Hadith : Baihaqi)

On the 9th and 10th of Muharram, one should fast. If it is not possible to fast on both days, then every effort should be made to fast on the 10th day of Muharram, as there is great reward for this fast. (Muslim Shareef).

the day when previous Prophets also fasted.’ [Jame Sageer]

Dua-e-Ashurah – An insurance for a year’s Life

Hazrat Imam Zainul Abidain (Radi Allah Anhu) reports that who ever recites this dua( Dua-e- Ashurah) on the tenth of Muharram, any time after sunrise and before sunset, or listens to its recitation from someone else, Allah Ta’ala will certainly make it an insurance for a years’ life for him, by keeping death away from him. However, if one is to become the victim of death in that year, they will by some strange coincidence not remember to recite it.

Aashura During the Days of Ignorance:
My beloved Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam beloved devotees. When RasoolAllah Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam saw the Jews fasting on the day of Aashura, he enquired as to the reason for it and they replied that this was the day when as Musa Alaihis Salaam was victorious over Firaun, who drowned along with his followers. So out of respect and as mark of celebration, we fast on this day.

Let’s Understand Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaah …..

“This is a very important question. In today’s Islamic world several Sunni sects / groups claim to be Ahle Sunnat Wal Jama’at and people are confused about it. Therefore, it is important to understand who is who within Islam and who are Ahle Sunnat Wal Jama’at.”

ahle

All the denominations within Islam have NO differences on common beliefs. They are all united on these beliefs

  • There is no God but Allah , Muhammad (Peace be upon him) is the messenger of Allah.
  • Allah has no partners, children or associates. He is alone the Creator (KHALIQ) and Sustainer (RAB) of every thing.  Allah is everywhere.  He has no shape or form. He is not confined to one place. We worship only Allah.
  • Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the FINAL and LAST Messenger and Prophet of Allah. There is no Prophet OR Messenger of Allah after him.  Allah perfected and completed His DEEN (way of life) on Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).
  • Qur’an is the word of Allah and it is the FINAL divine book from Allah.
  • Allah sent Prophets and Messengers before Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) towards different tribes and locations, such as Prophet Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Jesus (Peace be upon all of them).  These prophets and messengers of Allah are part of Islamic faith.
  • Allah gave books to several of His messengers, such a Zaboor, Torah and Gospel.
  • Allah created Angels
  • There is a life after death.  On the judgement day (QIYAMAT), we will be judged by Allah.
  • There is Heaven and Hell.
  • Allah is the ultimate authority. Without His Will no harm or benefit comes to anyone.

-:Differences:-

Right after the martyrdom of third caliph of Islam, Ameer ul Mo’mineen Hazrat Usman Ibn Affan (May Allah be pleased with him), Muslims were divided on political front.  Islamic state was divided into two separate governments. One government with capital in Madinah (now part of Saudi Arabia) and the other government with capital in Kufa (Iraq). One group identified themselves as Ahle Sunnat and the other group identified themselves as Ahle Tash’ee. In other words, Sunni and Shi’a.  Over the past hundreds of years, Sunni and Shi’a have been further divided into sub-denominations. Following are some of the sub-denominations of Shi’adenomination.

  • Ithna Ashari
  • Ismaili
  • Bohra
  • Nusairi
  • Alawi
  • Zikri

The above Shi’a groups are further subdivided into subgroups due to the ethnic, organizational, geographical and language differences and traditions.

Similarly, Sunnis are also subdivided into several sub-denominations.

  • Barelvi
  • Wahabi
  • Salafi (also called Ahle Hadith)
  • Deobandi
  • Parvezi
  • Mahdawi
  • Hanafi
  • Maliki
  • Shafe’ee
  • Hanbali

The above Sunni groups have been further subdivided into subgroups due to the ethnic, organizational, geographical and language differences and traditions.

Among Sunnis; Hanafi, Maliki, Shafe’ee and Hanbali are considered as Ahle Sunnat Wal Jama’at.  The basic difference among the four groups of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jama’at is the FIQH (Jurisprudence of Islam). Otherwise, these four groups have unanimity in beliefs, traditions and the status of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him), his SAHABAH (companions), his Aal (progeny) and the Aulia Allah (The very righteous people among Muslims) in Islam. Most of the Ahle Sunnah Wal Jama’ah follow the tradition of SUFIS (mysticism of Islam).   Barelvi school of thought is also considered as Ahle Sunnat wal Jama’at.  They follow the Hanafi FIQH.

The basic differences between Ahle Sunnat Wal Jama’at and the other Sunni sects are as follows

Ahle Sunnat Wal Jama’at believes that;

  1. Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) is closer and dearer to believers than their own lives.
  2. A believer must seek the pleasure (REDHA) of both Allah and His messenger, Muhammad (peace be upon him).
  3. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is spiritually alive in his grave (QABR-E-ANWAR). He listens and responds to the salutations and Darood Sharif that the Ummatee (followers) recite on him.
  4. Allah keeps Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) informed about the conditions and situations of every Ummatee (follower).  That is why he (peace be upon him) will be able to witness (SHAHEED) about the conditions of people on the judgement day in front of Allah.
  5. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the leader of all prophets and messengers of Allah.
  6. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) will intercede (SHAFA’AT) for the sinners on the judgement day and his SHAFA’AT (intercession) will be accepted by Allah.
  7. Allah gave Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) the knowledge of unseen (GHAIB). He has the knowledge of past, present and future.
  8. All the companions of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) are the most honourable people among the Ummah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
  9. The household (Ahle Bait) and the progeny of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) are the most honourable leaders of the Ummah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
  10. The wives of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) are the mothers for all believers and must be respected and honoured.
  11. Calling Ya Rasool-ullah (peace be upon him) is permissible in Islam and a tradition of Salaf Saleheen.
  12. The Aulia Allah (the very righteous saints) are very honourable people.  They are inspired by Allah and they are spiritually alive in their graves.
  13. Organizing the birthday celebrations of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and gatherings of Milad Sharif are very noble and Islamic deeds.
  14. Standing up during SALAAM (salutation) on Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is an honorable action and shows love and respect towards Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
  15. Visiting the graves and shrines of Prophets of Allah and Aulia Allah (Sufis) is permissible deed in Islam and highly desirable tradition of Muslims.
  16. Organizing programs on the birthdays and death anniversaries (Urs) of Aulia Allah (Sufis) is permissible in Islam. “Giyarween sharif” of Sayyidna Abdul Qadir Jilani (May Allah’s blessings upon him) is permissible in Islam.
  17. Serving humanity is a part of IBADAAH (worship) of Allah and the tradition of Sufis.
  18. Fanaticism, extremism and forceful conversion is an un-Islamic practice and is condemned by Islam.

The other Sunni sects such as Wahabis, Salafis (Ahle Hadith), Parvezees, Deobandis, etc.. do not believe or practice the above traditions of Ahle Sunnah.

Important note: Some westerners consider QADYANIS (also known as Ahmadis and Mirzai) as a sect of Islam. This is not correct.  Ahmadism OR Qadyanism is a separate religion that emerged from Islam, just like Bahai’ism and Daroozism. Baha’i, Darooz and Ahmadis are not Muslims.  The founders of these three religions were born in Muslim families but they decided to start their own religions and left Islam. The founder of Ahmadism/Qadyanism was Mirza Ghulam Ahmed Qadyani.  Ahmadis follow Mirza Ghulam Ahmed Qadyani.  Their claim that they are Muslim too is only to convert innocent Muslims from Islam to Ahmadism.

“We respect all religions and faiths including Qadyanis/Ahmedis but Qadyanis/Ahmadis should not be using our religion, Islam in order to misguide people.  This is what the extremists and the terrorists are doing. They are using Islam to justify hate and violence against innocent people. Qadyanis/Ahmadis are also using Islam to justify their beliefs under the disguise of Islam.”

Salafi / Wahabi Scholar Ibn Taymiyyah’s love for Ahle Bait / bayt ?????

Ibn Taymiyyah’s Love for Ahle Bayt—One of the harshest opponents of the Shia was Ibn Taymiyyah, and because of this, some of the Shia have slandered him by claiming that he was a Nasibi (i.e. hater of Ahlel Bayt). Answering-Ansar refers to him as “Imam of the Nasibis, Ibn Taymiyya”. And yet, Ibn Taymiyyah was a lover of Ahlel Bayt; not only did he love the Ahlel Bayt, but he publically declared the necessity of loving the Ahlel Bayt as a part of the creed of the Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’ah. Let us narrate what Ibn Taymiyyah wrote in his most famous book, Al-Aqeedah Al-Wasitiyyah; he said: “They (the believers) accept what has been reported continuously from the Prince of the Believers Ali Ibn Abi Talib…” (Ibn Taymiyyah, Al-Aqeedah Al-Wasitiyyah, Chapter 4)

Ibn Taymiyyah said further: “The best men of this Ummah after its Prophet are: Abu Bakr; then Umar; third: Uthman; and fourth: Ali Ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with them all).” (Ibn Taymiyyah, Al-Aqeedah Al-Wasitiyyah, Chapter 4)

In regards to the Prophetic Household, Ibn Taymiyyah said: “The Ahlus Sunnah should love the Prophet’s family, give them support, and honor the Prophet’s will in regards to them, as he said at Ghadir Khumm: ‘I ask you by Allah to take care of my family; I ask you by Allah to take care of my family.'” (Ibn Taymiyyah, Al-Aqeedah Al-Wasitiyyah, Chapter 4)

Explaining the Sunni creed, said: “They (Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’ah) love the people of the household of the Messenger of Allah; they regard them with love and loyalty, and they heed the command of the Messenger of Allah concerning them…but they reject the way of the (Shia) Rafidhis who hate the Sahabah and slander them, and they reject the way of the Nasibis who insult Ahlel Bayt in words and deed.” (Ibn Taymiyyah, Majmoo al-Fatawa, 3/154)

Ibn Taymiyyah was so aggrieved by the death of Hussain at Kerbala, that he said the following: “May Allah curse his killers, and whoever was glad with his murder!” (Ibn Taymiyyah, Majmoo al-Fatawa, Vol.4, pp.403-404) Note: Ibn Taymiyyah did not mention any names, as it is not the practice of the Sunnis to revile the dead by name or person, but rather Ibn Taymiyyah stated a conditional and general statement, i.e. whoever killed Hussain ibn Ali is to be cursed.

It is altogether interesting how careless the Shia are when it comes to throwing around insults of being Nasibi! It is very similar to the irresponsible attitude of Israeli Zionists who throw around insults of being anti-Semitic if anyone insults Israel. The Shia define a “Nasibi” to be one who insults the Shia, and in actuality their definition of the word has nothing at all to do with the Ahlel Bayt! How dishonest is Answering-Ansar’s claims that Ibn Taymiyyah was a Nasibi: which Nasibi in his right mind would call for the obligation of loving the Prophetic Household? Which Nasibi would claim that Ali ibn Abi Talib was from amongst the four greatest men in all of Islamic history? Would not a Nasibi be happy at the death of the Prophet’s grandson? And yet Shaykh al-Islam curses those who killed Husayn ibn Ali and those who are happy over his murder!

The Shia propagandists refer to us as “Takfeeris” and other such things, but the reality is that it is they who are guilty of this! Let us remind the reader that in Shia Fiqh a “Nasibi” is considered worse than a Kaafir. Notice how easily the Shia propagandists refer to people as “Nasibis”; we have no doubt that Answering-Ansar will one day refer to us as Nasibis! Why then should the Shia ever complain about “Takfeeri Sunnis” when they themselves are guilty of worse than this? In fact, we are hard-pressed to find a single rebuttal on Answering-Ansar where they refrain from calling the Sunni author to be a Nasibi. Calling someone a Nasibi is Takfeer, and it is in fact worse than Takfeer!

Seeking Blessings through the Holy Relics of Prophet(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) – Reference from Quran & Hadith

sacred-relics

In Today’s era, the degraders of Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) deny the Shifa/Tabarruk (Cure/Blessing) through Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) in different forms. Not only is the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) source of blessing himself, but also the relics associated with him (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) are also source of Shaf’at for Ummah.  The Sahaba(R.A) during his (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) lifetime, and also after his Dhahiri passing away did things like washing his cloak to seek cure, considering his hair as most dear to everything that is in the world, touching his pulpit and seeking barakah, wiping his Wudhu water over their faces and chests, even fighting over his left over wudhu water,  etc…

In Light of the Quran

It was usual practice of the Companions to preserve  relics of Prophet(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and to draw benefits and blessings out of them. This proves that they offered them to Allah as instruments of mediation when they needed His help and assistance. Allah Himself has made reference to the relics of the Prophets in the Holy Qur’ān.

Translation: And (further) their Prophet said to them: “A Sign of his authority is that there shall come to you the Ark of the covenant, with (an assurance) therein of security from your Lord, and the relics left by the family of Moses and the family of Aaron, carried by angels. In this is a symbol for you if ye indeed have faith.” [Quran 2:248]

Tafsir al-Jalalayn: And their prophet said to them, after they had demanded a sign of his kingship: ‘The sign of his kingship is that there will come to you the Ark, a chest containing the images of the prophets, which God sent down to Adam, and which was handed down to them [sc. the Israelites], until the Amalekites seized it from them in battle. They used to commence fighting invoking it before their enemy and marching behind it, as well as experience peacefulness in its presence as God says: therein is a Spirit of Peace, reassurance for your hearts, from your Lord, and a remnant of what the folk of Moses and the folk of Aaron left behind, which were Moses’s pair of sandals and his staff, Aaron’s turban, a measure (qafīz) of the manna that used to come down on them, and the pieces of the broken tablets, the angels bearing it (tahmiluhu l-malā’ikatu, the circumstantial qualifier referring to the subject of the verb ya’tiyakum, ‘there will come to’). Surely in that shall be a sign for you, of his kingship, if you are believers’. The angels bore it between the earth and the sky while they gazed at it, until finally they placed it before Saul. They then acknowledged his kingship and hastened to enlist in the [holy] struggle, and he chose seventy thousand of their young men.

Quran states:

Translation: “Go with this my shirt, and cast it over the face of my father: he will come to see (clearly). Then come ye (here) to me together with all your family.” When the caravan left (Egypt), their father said: “I do indeed scent the presence of Joseph: Nay, think me not a dotard.” They said: “By Allah. truly thou art in thine old wandering mind.” Then when the bearer of the good news came, He cast (the shirt) over his face, and he forthwith regained clear sight. He said: “Did I not say to you, ‘I know from Allah that which ye know not?'”[Quran 12:93-96]

Blessing Through Hair of Prophet(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)

Hadith #1
Narrated Ibn Sirrn:

I said to ‘Ablda, “I have some of the hair of the Prophet which I got from Anas or from his family.” ‘Abida replied.”No doubt if I had a single hair of that it would have been dearer to me than the whole world and whatever is in it.”

Khalid bin Walid fighting for the Blessed hair of Prophet(Peace be Upon him)

At this he replied: I did not try so to find just the cap, actually It contained the (blessed) hair of Prophet (Peace be upon him) and I feared that It might get into the hands of Mushrikeen and I might lose the Barakah of it [Qadhi Iyaadh in Ash-Shifa, Volume No. 1, Page No. 619]

The Small water bag of leather as a source of Blessing

Hadith #5

‘Abd-ur-Rahmān bin Abū ‘Amrah has attributed it to his grandmother who heard it from Kabshah Ansāriyyah:

Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) went over to see her and there was a small water bag of leather hanging there. He drank water from it while standing. Then she cut off the mouth of water bag on account of its blessing because the Prophet’s mouth had touched it.

Cure through the Prophet’s(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Cloak

Hadith #7

I went back to Asma’ and informed her. whereupon she said: Here is the cloak of Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him). and she brought out to me that cloak made of Persian cloth with a hem of brocade, and its sleeves bordered with brocade and said: This was Allah’s Messenger’s cloak with ‘A’isha until she died, and when she died. I got possession of it. The Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) used to wear that, and “WE WASHED IT FOR THE SICK AND SOUGHT CURE THEREBY”

Prophet(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) confirming the act to be right

Hadith #8

Anas b. Malik reported that Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) came to the house of Umm Sulaim and slept in her bed while she was away from her house. On the other day too he slept in her bed. She came and it was said to her: It is Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) who is having siesta in your house, lying in your bed. She came and found him sweating and his sweat falling on the leather cloth spread on her bed. She opened her scent-bag and began to fill the bottles with it. Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) was startled and woke up and said: Umm Sulaim, what are you doing? She said: Allah’s Messenger, we seek blessings for our children through it. Thereupon he said: You have done something right.

Blessing through the Holy Prophet’s(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Perspiration

Hadith #9

Umm Sulaim reported that Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) visited her house and (took rest) and she spread a piece of cloth for him and he had had a siesta on it. And he sweated profusely and she collected his sweat and put it in a perfume and in bottles. Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) said: Umm Sulaim, what is this? She said: It is your sweat, which I put in my perfume. Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) sweated in cold weather when revelation descended upon him.

It is narrated by Thumāmah through Anas: That Umm Sulaym used to spread a leather mattress for the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) where he enjoyed his midday nap. Anas relates that when the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) woke up, I collected his perspiration and his hair, put these into a bottle and blended them with perfume. Thumāmah relates that when Anas was on the brink of dying he willed that the scent be applied to his coffin. He relates that the scent was applied to his coffin.

Order Of Prophet(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)

Hadith #11

Narrated Abu Juhaifa:

Allah’s Apostle came to us at noon and water for ablution was brought to him. After he had performed ablution, the remaining water was taken by the people and they started smearing their bodies with it (as a blessed thing). The Prophet offered two Rakat of the Zuhr prayer and then two Rakat of the ‘Asr prayer while an ‘Anza (spear-headed stick) was there (as a Sutra) in front of him. Abu Musa said: The Prophet asked for a tumbler containing water and washed both his hands and face in it and then threw a mouthful of water in the tumbler and said to both of us (Abu Musa and Bilal), “Drink from the tumbler and pour some of its water on your faces and chests.”

Hadith #13

Narrated As-Sa’ib bin Yazid:

My aunt took me to the Prophet and said, “O Allah’s Apostle! This son of my sister has got a disease in his legs.” So he passed his hands on my head and prayed for Allah’s blessings for me; then he performed ablution and I drank from the remaining water. I stood behind him and saw the seal of Prophethood between his shoulders, and it was like the “Zir-al-Hijla” (means the button of a small tent, but some said ‘egg of a partridge.’ etc.)

Shroud out of the clothes worn by the Prophet(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)

Hadith #19

Narrated Abu Hazim:

Sahl bin Sa’d said that a woman brought a Burda (sheet) to the Prophet. Sahl asked the people, “Do you know what is a Burda?” The people replied, “It is a ‘Shamla’, a sheet with a fringe.” That woman said, “O Allah’s Apostle! I have brought it so that you may wear it.” So the Prophet took it because he was in need of it and wore it. A man among his companions, seeing him wearing it, said, “O Allah’s Apostle! Please give it to me to wear.” The Prophet said, “Yes.” (and gave him that sheet). When the Prophet left, the man was blamed by his companions who said, “It was not nice on your part to ask the Prophet for it while you know that he took it because he was in need of it, and you also know that he (the Prophet) never turns down anybody’s request that he might be asked for.” That man said, “I just wanted to have its blessings as the Prophet had put it on, so l hoped that I might be shrouded in it.”

Blessings through the Prophet(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Spittle

Hadith #22

Part of the hadith

Urwa then started looking at the Companions of the Prophet. By Allah, whenever Allah’s Apostle spat, the spittle would fall in the hand of one of them (i.e. the Prophet’s companions) who would rub it on his face and skin; if he ordered them they would carry his orders immediately; if he performed ablution, they would struggle to take the remaining water; and when they spoke to him, they would lower their voices and would not look at his face constantly out of respect. Urwa returned to his people and said, “O people! By Allah, I have been to the kings and to Caesar, Khosrau and An-Najashi, yet I have never seen any of them respected by his courtiers as much as Muhammad is respected by his companions. By Allah, if he spat, the spittle would fall in the hand of one of them (i.e. the Prophet’s companions) who would rub it on his face and skin; if he ordered them, they would carry out his order immediately; if he performed ablution, they would struggle to take the remaining water; and when they spoke, they would lower their voices and would not look at his face constantly out of respect.”

Hadith #23

Asmā’ bint Abū Bakr says:

I (while in Makkah) was pregnant with ‘Abdullāh bin Zubayr (that is, he was in my belly). The period of pregnancy was near completion that I set out for Medina. I got down at Qubā’ and gave birth to my son (‘Abdullāh bin Zubayr) at Qubā’. Then I took him over to the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and placed him in his lap. He sent for a date and chewed it. Then he put his saliva into the child’s mouth, and the first thing that entered his stomach was the Prophet’s saliva. Then he applied the date to his palate, prayed for him and offered his congratulations

Hadith #25

‘Ā’ishah relates that the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) used to mention in the context of patients:

Ibn Hajar ‘Asqalānī’s comments on the tradition are as follows:

“The Prophet’s words “from the saliva of some of us” prove that he used to apply his saliva while using a protective invocation (ruqyah) over something. Nawawī says: ‘the tradition means that the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) put his saliva on his forefinger and rubbed it on to the soil, then he froze it and applied it to the patient or the wound and while applying it, he recited the words of the tradition.’ Qurtubī says: ‘this tradition proves that it is valid to treat any disease by using a protective invocation over it, and it also makes it clear that it was a common and popular practice among them.’ He is also of the opinion that the Prophet’s placing of his forefinger on the soil and sprinkling it with earth justifies its relevance while blowing protective invocation through it… And, surely, it describes the mode of receiving blessings through the attributes of the Lord and the relics of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم). Then blowing breath laden with protective invocation into something and a divinely inspired sense of purpose and determination have amazing implications which simply stun human reason.

Blessing through the Holy Prophet’s(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) handwash

Hadith #26

Abu Musa reported: I was in the company of Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) as he had been sitting in Ji’rana (a place) between Mecca and Medina and Bilal was also there, that there came to Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) a desert Arab, and he said: Muhammad, fulfill your promise that you made with me. Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said to him: Accept glad tidings. Thereupon the desert Arab said: You shower glad tidings upon me very much; then Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) turned towards Abu Musa and Bilal seemingly in a state of annoyance and said: Verily he has rejected glad tidings but you two should accept them. We said: Allah’s Messenger, we have readily accepted them. Then Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) called for a cup of water and washed his hands in that and face too and put the saliva in it and then said: Drink out of it and pour it over your faces and over your chest and gladden yourselves. They took hold of the cup and did as Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) had commanded them to do. Thereupon Umm Salama called from behind the veil: Spare some water in your vessel for your mother also, and they also gave some water which had been spared for her.

We were with Anas that he sent for a vessel, which had three female iron lizards and an iron ring in it. He took it out of a black cover, which was less than medium size and more than one-eighth of it, and at Anas’s order, water was brought in it for us. We had the water and poured some of it over our heads and faces and sent salutations on the Holy Prophet.

Blessing through the Prophet(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Pulpit

Hadith #42

Sitting on the pulpit, the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) taught religion to his Companions. The lovers of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) were extremely fond of this pulpit and preserved it like his other relics to draw blessings from it. Qādī ‘Iyād relates:
Ibn ‘Umar was often seen touching with his hand the part of the pulpit where the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) used to sit and then rubbing his hand all over his body.

Blessing through the Holy Prophet(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Staff

Hadith #43

‘Abdullāh bin Anīs has reported it from his father:
When I called on the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) , he said to me as he saw me: “The successful face (the successful man).” He says: I said to him: O Messenger of Allah, I have killed him (Khālid bin Sufyān). He said: You have spoken out the truth. Then the Messenger (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) stood up beside me and went to his house and blessed me with his staff and said: O ‘Abdullāh bin Anīs! Keep it with you. When I came out carrying the staff, the people asked me: what is this (staff)? He replied: this has been given to me by the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and he has commanded me to keep it. The people said: won’t you return it to the Messenger Ask the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) about it. ‘Abdullāh bin Anīs says that I called on the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and asked him: O Messenger of Allah! why have you given this staff to me? He replied: on the Day of Judgement this will serve as a mark of recognition between us when few people will cooperate with others. ‘Abdullāh bin Anīs tied the staff to his sword and always kept it with himself until he passed away. He had willed about the staff that it should be placed in his coffin, so we buried them together.
